About Those Blingy Body Chains ...

What would you say to your best friend if she was poolside in a bikini and a $2,000 diamond and gold body chain? Yeah, we thought so.

The body bling is becoming a bit of a trend — recently, Rihanna, Whitney Port and Miley Cyrus have all tried the look (Rihanna and Cyrus with a $3,875 chain by Jacquie Aiche) — but what’s the point? It kind of cuts through cleavage and adds lines to the tummy, and unless you have a really bangin’ body, like any of these three ladies, it seems it could have the potential to be quite unflattering. Perhaps this is a style that’s best kept for the rich and famous — though honestly, we don’t see why it needs to be a style at all.

Aesthetic issues aside, however, we can’t stop thinking about our real concern: those tan lines! Tell us: Would you wear a body chain?

That just seems uncomfortable in the heat, and if you’re sitting in the chair, is it pressing into your back?

One of my ex boyfriends had a body chain fetish and begged me to wear them. They were nothing but a pain in the ass and they didn’t even look that pretty either. I’d rather bling up my skin with glitter pigments or wear bold necklaces than wear body chains.

I don’t think I’ve really seen body chains photographed well anywhere. I have one from an etsy seller that is super comfortable and slips on over my head. And I’m not a skinny mini. I think it give me a waist.

I’m a belly dancer and I wear a body chain when I perform to add a little extra embellishment to my torso, but (because of all the dancing) I have a pretty good body. I’d never wear these to the beach. Seems uncomfortable, unnecessary, and certainly the tan lines are undesirable.
