Red Carpet Trend Report: What’s Sizzling and What’s Fizzling

Summer is officially here, which means it’s time for our favorite stars to show some skin (as if they hadn’t before) and break out their best new outfits. This week was full of parties, premieres and awards, so pull up a chair and check out the trends we can’t wait to see more of on the red carpet this season — and those that should be left in the closet until fall.
Up: Boy-meets-girl chic. Looking for a way to dress up your flirty floral frock for work? Take a cue from Kristen Stewart — and the boys — and pop on a blazer. It will immediately take your look from pretty cute to totally chic.
Down: Black turtleneck dresses. Aren’t you hot in that? (We’re asking you, Kim Kardashian!) Although a black turtleneck dress is appropriate for colder months, it’s summer, which means it’s OK to show skin and play with prints.
Up: Luxe summer leather. Leather can be tough to pull off (especially in the warmer months). The easiest way to work the fabric? In a great pair of shorts. Remember to get a high-waisted pair that’s on the baggy side — like Aubrey Plaza‘s — to keep the look sexy yet sophisticated.
