We “like” this! While Mark Zuckerberg was taking his company public on Friday, his then-bride-to-be, Priscilla Chan, was quietly putting the final touches on her wedding gown.

For her surprise Saturday nuptials, Chan wore designer Claire Pettibone’s “Sky Between the Branches” gown, an ivory laser-cut floral dress adorned with matte sequins lined in silk. The gown featured subtle cutouts in the overlay, plus an illusion jewel neckline, sheer back and chapel-length train. The dress retails for $4,700 and is available on Pettibone’s website.

“She wore it with such grace,” Pettibone tells PEOPLE of Chan. “Her gown seems to perfectly capture her personality — understated and elegant with a touch of sparkle. It’s a perfect blend of femininity and fashion.”

Pettibone, a Los Angeles-based designer, has also created wedding gowns for stars like Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss and American Idol‘s Tamyra Gray, and even designed a bridesmaid dress worn by Cameron Diaz.

Zuckerberg and Chan married in a small ceremony in their Palo Alto, Calif., backyard on Saturday. Guests thought they were coming over for a surprise party to celebrate Chan’s graduation from medical school, however, the couple had been planning the wedding for more than four months.

Why would anyone make a negative comment about them? I love the fact that it was a small simple affair and she wore a dress that was under 5,000 when she married a billionare.
understated and elegant, good for them.

Just My Opinion on

Congrats to them both. They did there wedding just the way they wanted it, and they wore what they wanted to wear.

@Denise Smith – Really?? You are a complete moron. If a woman is comfortable in the dress that she is wearing and feels beautiful on her special day, that’s all that matters.

The dress is cute. Not stunning. I agree with Denise that the strapless dresses are tiring already. Especially on heavy girls with enormous breasts and back fat. NOT attractive…

Why is she wearing white? Is she a nurse?

I agree with Denise Smith. What’s so moronic about what she said? She didn’t bash the woman? Perhaps she stepped on your toes. Did your back spill out over your strapless gown? The only moron is the one who took offense to her comment.

@Denise: While I agree with you about strapless gowns, I had the hardest time finding anything that wasn’t strapless!! It was so difficult that I ended up buying a strapless dress and having a seamstress sew on straps. All I am saying is that a lot of the affordable dresses only came in strapless – I have no idea why but it drove me crazy!

wow Meg, that was really rude! They have been together for a very long time.

Her dress is very classic and elegent. It is refreshing to see people with loads of money have a wedding that is not an extravaganza.
