Emma Stone on Her Met Gala Dress: 'It Was Rainproof!'
Walking the red carpet at Monday night’s star-studded Met Gala, Emma Stone was totally protected from the elements. “It was rainproof,” she joked to PEOPLE of her daring Lanvin mini. “Those plastic flowers! It was fantastic.”
Attending the Ball with Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz was “great,” the actress shared. “It was pretty exciting. And I did love my dress.”
Stone was dressed up for a different reason Wednesday; the star was at New York’s Essex House hotel to help host the fifth annual Gilda’s Club benefit luncheon (she serves as an ambassador for the organization, which supports people living with cancer).
“It’s so wonderful to be here,” she said. “I’m here with my mom, who is three-and-a-half years clear of breast cancer, so of course it’s incredibly exciting to have her here.” Stone’s mother — a big Gilda Radner fan — spent a lot of time at the Gilda’s Club of Phoenix while undergoing cancer treatments after her diagnosis in 2008.
“It’s such an amazing, special place,” she said of Gilda’s Club. “It’s free of charge, and you find people who are empathetic to your situation instead of just sympathetic — you’re able to walk into a room where you don’t feel alienated, or where you feel like you’re having an experience that is different than other people’s experiences. You’re able to talk about it, and be exactly as you are, so it’s a really incredible organization.”
