Brad Pitt is keeping busy amidst all the wedding planning — the actor was just announced as the new face of Chanel No. 5. The French fashion house confirmed the news to PEOPLE earlier this morning.

The Academy Award-nominated star is reportedly shooting his first ad in London sometime this week, according to E! News.

It’s the first time in history that the house has chosen a man to represent the fragrance. Pitt joins the likes of Nicole Kidman, Vanessa Paradis, Audrey Tautou, Ali MacGraw and Lauren Hutton.

According to reports, Pitt will be paid seven figures for his work; his ad will be released overseas later this year.

There’s a lot of negativity and shade. Oh well, I think Pitt is appropriate for an aspirational brand who views its fragrances as a loss leader. He is both accessible and controversial, which is exactly what you want in a spokesperson. Basically, the negative comments and the fact you couldn’t resist the urge to make them tells Chanel they’ve made the right choice. So good on y’all haters!

Wow, bad choice. He is not a very handsome man, not enough for a perfume ad….

Can’t they clean him up? Ever since he’s been with Jolie he looks like a dead rat’s dung pile.

I think he’s still good looking. George Clooney doesn’t get his hands dirt so of course he still looks good. Brad’s a working man with lots of kids. I think he still looks good. Just need to shave and change his hair to the way he use to wear it.

Dude, shower, shave and get a hair cut.

Interesting marketing stategy. this reminds me of back in the day when Naomi Campbell was the face spokesperson for a men’s colonge called Jazz, by YSL. I think. Of course Brad wikll be cleaned up or the ads but not too much as this will only be seen out of the US. In Europe and elsewhere they don’t like men to look all coiffed up and manscapped to death. A little scruff goes a long way outside the US. And Brad Pitt is almost a brand him self that’s why they chose him.

I see very little that is attractive about Brad Pitt. Not crazy about his cave-sized nostrils. Jennifer Aniston is lucky to be rid of him. She can do better.
