Cameron Diaz Recalls Her First Trip to Paris's Couture Shows
When Cameron Diaz attended Paris Couture Week in January, she had several major pinch-me moments. “When I was 18 and modeling in Paris, I saw Karl Lagerfeld in a crowd of people and was like, ‘Oh my god!'” she recalls to InStyle. “And here I am 20 years later meeting him for the first time.”
Making her inaugural trek to the shows with InStyle, Diaz got to visit several designers’ ateliers and meet the seamstresses who spend hours upon hours creating luxury garments. “It was amazing … couture really is an art form,” she says. At Valentino’s atelier, “the women were so sweet and excited about what they do,” she recalls. “I told them through a translator how in awe of them I was.”
Diaz’s trip to Paris also marked the big debut of her extra-short haircut, styled by the same friend who’s been cutting her hair for the past nine years. “She cut my hair really short,” Diaz says. “But then I thought, ‘No, I really like this!’ It’s freeing, and I feel so much lighter.”
