Last year, she mastered Saturday Night Live and sang at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s wedding. But even British singer Ellie Goulding is not immune to beauty blunders.

“There was one incident where I wore a pink dress, pink hair, pink everything and I was the brownest I’ve ever been” thanks to a fake tan, she told reporters Wednesday at the ELLE Women in Music bash at Avalon in Hollywood.

But such mistakes are a thing of the past; these days, she has fellow Brit singer and pal Jessie J to rely on for style advice. “She always knows about everything,” Goulding, wearing a black top, leather jacket and J Brand leather skinnies, said. “She’s a really good friend to have.”

Apparently; when asked for her best fashion advice, Jessie replied, “Always make sure you take a photo with a flash before you go outside.” Why? “To make sure [your outfit] isn’t see-through. Because that’s not good!” Tell us: What was your biggest beauty or fashion blunder ever?
