Elle Macpherson, eat your heart out! British beauty Daphne Selfe, 83, is still walking catwalks, starring in campaigns — and hasn’t indulged in any cosmetic enhancements.

“I think it’s a waste of money,” she tells the U.K.’s Daily Mail of facelifts and Botox. “Anyway, I couldn’t afford it!”

Selfe, who grew up modestly in Berkshire, got her start after winning a local newspaper’s modeling competition. “I’d been told I was nice looking a couple of times,” but was never considered beautiful, she says. “I then started working steadily, it was wonderful.”

Selfe says that these days, she “would never make it. I was too short, with wide shoulders from all the riding I did as a young girl. But no one ever asked me to lose weight.”

Crediting good genes and Boots creams for her youthful appearance, Selfe says she feels a bit badly about the pressures today’s models face. But nonetheless, “they are so lovely to me,” she insists. “They tell me they want to look like me when they get older.”

Getting older: something Selfe is certainly not afraid of. “It’s going to happen, so why worry?” she explains. “I try to remain cheerful, not grumpy.” For example, “I’ve developed glaucoma, but the drops I have to put in my eyes have made my lashes grow! So there is always a plus side.” Visit the Daily Mail to read more — and to learn about Selfe’s daring charitable photo shoot for Oxfam International.

In response to AJK….you feel badly IS correct english. We are all just used to poor english…maybe you should go back to school before you call other people moronic. The womon in the article is lovely.

@Cindee

Indeed, bimatoprost prescription eye drops for glaucoma are known for growing eyelashes fuller and longer, as well as darker. You probably know it better as Latisse, the very pricey prescription eyelash enhancing medication paying a lot to have their commercials air marketing it to women.

Actually DMF, AJK is correct. I feel bad is used to describe an emotion, I feel badly is used to describe how one is doing with the feeling action. Donald Trump has used the word badly in place of bad several times and it drives me crazy.

Wow, 83? Astonishingly lovely and her hair is phenomenal! To have hair that thick at the age is a rarity indeed. She has a lot of grace about her.

Would I? Absolutely.

In her younger pictures, she kind of reminds me of Ginnifer Goodwin. I hope I look half as good when I reach her age!
