When word got out that Angelina Jolie was wearing an engagement ring, most people’s first thought (after “Finally!”) was “Let’s see the ring!” And a first look confirms that it is, in fact, a stunner.

Jeweler Robert Procop, with whom Jolie designs her jewelry line Style of Jolie, announced that he had designed the sparkler with Jolie’s longtime love Brad Pitt (and Pitt’s rep confirmed the happy news).

“Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert,” Procop’s team said in a statement. “He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect.”

For Pitt and Procop, “perfect” means that Jolie’s ring is made of “a diamond of the finest quality … cut to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand,” according to the statement; side diamonds, also of “the highest gem quality … are specially cut to encircle her finger.” Also befitting the human rights activist duo: the diamond is conflict-free.

From the first look, it appears that the ring is close in size to BeyoncĂ©’s 18-carat sparkler in a similar emerald cut, which would suit the star to a tee. “Angelina has very classic style,” Procop told PEOPLE when their collaboration was announced — so a traditional ring is a perfect fit. Tell us: Do you like Jolie’s ring?

Fantastic news. I am so happy for them. Perhaps we can finally move on from the Jen/Brad/Ange saga…

Engaged – really. People get engaged after living together for how many years, and how many kids! Whatever!

Love it! They took their time for their own personal reasons – and now, the time is obviously right. Congrats!

It is classic Emerald cut which means it is most likely flawless or hides a small flaw under a prong.

Brad and Angelina has been married since day one in their hearts, you can see that in their acts of love for each other and towards their children over the years. The way they live their lives is testimonial enough of their commitments for each other and the family. The ring and ceremonial celebrations is just for their young children to finally be at peace that their mom and dad are married. They both are great parents and human beings for indulging their children in the ultimate act of love. We celebrate with them! We can learn from them and we can be inspired by them!

It’s about time! They really did things backwards.I have lost respect for both of them because they have waited so long to get married.

I haven’t been this excited over an engagement since my daughter’s back in 2008. She too lived with her (now) husband for 7 years prior to that, and helped in raising his two children from his previous marriage. They got married in 9/09 and gave me a granddaughter last July. They are such a beautiful family together. I wish the same for Brad and Angelina!

Why is the media there if this is a private viewing?! Kind of like their visits to refugee camps w the media in tow.
