See Alec Baldwin’s Fiancée’s Engagement Ring

A 30-carat Rock? Not quite, but the engagement ring Alec Baldwin presented to girlfriend Hilaria Thomas over the weekend definitely is stunning. The bauble — seen on Thomas Monday while she was out in New York — features what appears to be a square-cut diamond set on a diamond-covered band.

“Yes, it’s true! Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we’re all excited for the newly engaged couple,” a rep for Baldwin tells PEOPLE. “Alec’s birthday is tomorrow — great way to celebrate!”

The 30 Rock star began dating Thomas, a yoga instructor, last summer.

“I’ve got a woman in my life now,” the actor said of his love not long ago. “My girlfriend is very important to me.”

Baldwin was previously married to actress Kim Basinger, with whom he has a 16-year-old daughter, Ireland.

This is starting to look like a major contest to see who can give their gals the biggest or best rings compared to others. At first it was okay but now they are all starting to look alike to me. Maybe it is just me – but really isnt it the sentiment behind it that counts.

I wish her a lot of luck with him. Cannot stand him. First negative post I have made.

Alec Baldwin? Seriously? Not sure a ring (of any carat size) and a pricey apartment could convince me to want any part of Alec Baldwin. I know better than to permanently (or temporarily) associate with anyone with a reputation of smacking women around.

I kind of feel sorry for this woman. Baldwin has a volatile temper. I certainly wouldn’t want to raise a child with him.
