Learn CoverGirl's Best Beauty Secrets in Paula Patton's New Videos
Joining the CoverGirl family was “a dream come true” for Paula Patton, and starring in the brand’s glamorous new tutorials was even better.
“I shot with an incredible makeup artist, and got to ask her the questions that I would want to know,” Patton tells PEOPLE. “I’ve learned quite a few things.”
That “incredible” makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff, who helps Patton achieve the most perfect pout, most glowing skin and most dramatic day-to-evening eye makeup in the CoverGirl tutorials (below).
“I learned about contouring your face, about lashes,” Patton shares. “I’ve learned a lot from doing movies and photo shoots.” So much, that she’s been able to apply some tricks to her daily routine. “Makeup artists pump it up a bit, but you can always subtly replicate what they did.”
However, having a little one — son Julian, 19 months — in the house has made Patton’s morning makeup situation a bit more streamlined. “You’ve got your mascara, a bit of blush, concealer — you look presentable, and don’t feel like you just rolled out of bed and look crazy,” she jokes. “You don’t realize how selfish and vain you are until you have a child. But on the other hand, if you look at the mirror when you leave the house, and feel fresh and like the way you look, that affects your day.”
That doesn’t mean Patton won’t indulge in a moment of glamour once in a while, however. “I love the Queen Collection vivid impact eyeliner,” she shares. “They have a smudge applicator at the end, so you can make them an eye shadow, and they stay on all day.”
And when it’s time for a night out, the star turns to lipstick. “The Queen Collection lip colors are really moisturizing — they leave a bit of a stain, but they’re not drying and not glossy looking, either. You put it on, look in the mirror a while later and it’s still there.”
