Cate Blanchett 'Frightened' by Plastic Surgery
If there’s one star in Hollywood who won’t be getting Botox anytime soon, it sounds like it’s Cate Blanchett. “I’m not sitting on a soapbox telling women what they should and shouldn’t do,” she tells Fashion ETC. “I just know what works for me. I’d be too frightened about what it means long-term. Looking at women in their 20s doing this stuff, in the end all you see is the work. It doesn’t fill me with admiration; it fills me with pity.”
Luckily, the actress doesn’t have to worry too much about her skin: her pale complexion is basically flawless, a fact she credits to Japanese skincare brand SK-II (she’s the face of the company). “I’ve been using it for a long time,” she says, adding that part of her basic routine is born of laziness. “If it works, I keep using it. It’s about consistency.”
In addition to using the brand’s delicate lotions and masks — she put her own $250 skincare kit together back in 2008 — the Aussie actress relies on occasional oxygen facials, emu oil, Paw Paw Ointment and daily doses of sunscreen. But some signs of aging even Blanchett can’t prevent: when asked about sun exposure, she resigns, “You’re going to get it anyway.” Tell us: How do you take care of your skin?
