Her halftime show scored mixed reviews (full disclosure: we loved it!) but Madonna‘s Super Bowl Sunday style was a total touchdown. The Material Girl performed a series of hits in an elaborate black-and-gold wardrobe made by Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci (accented with megawatt earrings by Bulgari) and seamlessly transitioned between looks.

Madonna started her performance in a gold cape hand-embroidered with gold metal cut-out pieces, studs, crystals, sequins and paillettes, lined in a leopard-print chiffon. She paired that with a gold, crystal-covered hat. She then changed — on stage! — into a black mini-dress (top left) with a black python hand-studded and hand-embroidered belt with removable matching flaps. (The guys of LMFAO — who wore Beats by Dr. Dre headphones studded with 114 carats of Graff diamonds — peeled that off of her after their cameo.)

For the “Like a Prayer” finale — which featured Cee Lo Green — the singer covered up in a silk cady black coat hand-embroidered with black sequins and micro pearls (top right). Throughout the performance, she also wore hand-embroidered nappa leather gloves and killer black boots.

According to a release, “Madonna’s legendary music met Ricardo Tisci’s codes in what seemed to be the most perfect way.” And the designer himself was pleased with the results. “Following my collaboration with Madonna on her last tour three years ago, it is a great honor for me to be part of yet another historical and iconic moment.”

He continues, “People say everything has a limit, but limits do not exist with Madonna. I am so happy that, after being busy in other scenes, she decided to go back on a music stage. Not only to bring us music, but also to make such a statement of performance and fashion.” Tell us: What did you think of Madonna’s Super Bowl style? And did you enjoy her performance?

Madonna was “THE BEST EVER”! She is an outstanding performer and I thought it was the best half-time show I have seen in years! Such a DIVA!

I do have not really liked Madonna but I feel she put on one of the best Super Bowl half time shows that I can remember and I have seen them all and I am 80 years old.

I thought the show was entertaining and was a good mix of stars. It was good to hear songs from when I was younger; I sang along and my kids looked at me like I was nuts!

Never been a big fan of hers, but I am now.

I think she looked nervous. Did she really need to have the other singers. Did she feel the need to validate herself or make herself relevant by having the other current singers with her. Seems she maybe a little insecure about her status now as a singer. I definitely prefer her over Lady Gaga because Madonna was the original “over the top” artist.

Look, I’m all for older women showing they are still strong, independent and viable women. All for it. But I didn’t like the show simply because it was nothing more than re-hashing the 80’s, 90’s and her earlier music in new costumes. I thought it was boring. If it weren’t for the dancers, the electical show, etc….she would have NO SHOW!

I just think they should have chosen someone a little more “in date” and exciting than Madonna. She’s not a worldwide crowd appeal anymore and that’s what you need for these shows.

That was, without a doubt, the best Super Bowl half-time show I have ever seen. I’m not a huge Madonna fan, but I knew she would do a good job. Go, Madonna!!

When your 52 and awesome, you have no expiration date. She was incredible. I’m 50 and she had me up on my feet and dancing like a girl. Entertainers like Madonna are very few and in between, most just come and go. She’ll be around as long as she has an audience and from I could hear, she had her audience… the palm of her hand.

The thing that bothered me most is that she lip syn. her songs (bad taste and in agreement with Elton John’s comment of her doing this in her concerts!). Her performance was rather glitzy/glittery and she tried rather yard to prove she can dance/sing like her younger days but her career is old news for todays market, dont you think? Sure, I like the older songs when she was younger and she can still sing them well. But nostalgia is overused these days. Much prefer Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc. to see at the superbowl in the future. Madonna you had your day. Time to let the new singers sing.

Can’t stand her in what she represents, or her sexual morals, however her performance and this show was FABULOUS!
