Mary-Kate and Ashley's Elizabeth and James: Not Named After Little Sis
“We wanted it to be based on a relationship between a young girl and a boy and tell the story through clothing,” Mary-Kate told WWD when they launched the contemporary collection in 2007. “It’s a clash between masculinity and femininity,” added Ashley.
Brand reps also confirm to PEOPLE that the line is not named after anyone in specific.
But try telling that to little sister Elizabeth. “In my mind, that was, ‘Oh cool, that means I get free clothes,'” she tells ASOS magazine of her presumed influence on the line’s moniker. “For two years, I didn’t [have to] buy anything.” The Martha Marcy May Marlene star also wears her sister’s collection throughout a spread in the mag and was recently spotted sporting the line’s $155 sunnies.
