Watch that lighter, Cinna! Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark’s (Josh Hutcherson) flammable black Hunger Games unitards — and though unlit, they’re pretty cool. The costumes, designed in party by Everdeen’s stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), are eventually set aflame, and the two young stars dazzle the people of Panem as they ride through town the night before the games begin.

Last month, InStyle asked several designers to imagine the fiery costumes, with Christian Siriano, Charlotte Ronson and Nicole Miller creating super-cool yellow, orange and red interpretations of the look. Though we’ll have to wait until the film’s release on March 23rd to see the costumes aglow, this first look is definitely getting us excited. Tell us: How did you envision the flammable costumes?

Did any of you read the book? He sets the costumes alight right before they walk out. This is them before they’ve been lit obviously.

I’m really looking forward to the movie… Everything I’ve seen so far has been exactly as I pictured it in the books. Maybe reading it when I knew a movie was coming out helped “convert” the images for me…

people need to stop being so picky. whether or not they are exactly what you imagined, they are still cool. too many people are throwing a fit because the costume isnt plucked straight from their memory. its a major motion picture people. get the eff over it and accept the coolness of it!!

Sorry, the girl who plays Katniss does not look like a girl she looks like a grown woman Sort of misses the the whole point of the horrific nature of “The Games”, that it is the people’s beloved children/ young teens are forced to do battle to the death in order to keep the population intimidated and controlled and powerless. There are plenty of actresses as good or better both known and unknown who are the right age that they could have found to do the part and make it more credible and true to the theme yet everyone will say the movie is great weather it is or not because they are all just like the people in the books themselves; gutless, they all believe what they are told to believe no one dares to have their own opinion and they don’t even realize it very sad
