Emily Blunt: YSL Made a ‘Terrible Mistake’ Hiring Me

In a plunging pantsuit, gilded choker and auburn waves, Emily Blunt has never looked as glam as she does in the video for Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium fragrance — but she’s not quite sure she pulled it off.

“God, I’m so un-French in that trailer,” she laments to U.K.’s The Telegraph of the video (below), in which she deftly dodges a lunging leopard while wearing sky-high heels.

Asked why she was invited to join the ranks of supermodel Linda Evangelista, who once fronted the fragrance, The Muppets star says, “I don’t know. I’ve no idea.” Perhaps “there was no one else?” before asserting: “They made a mistake, a terrible mistake.”

Are You Loving … Colorful Ombré Hair?

Ombré hair color has been big for the past couple of years and recently a few brave celebs, including Lauren Conrad, have updated the look by dip-dying their ends an array of bright hues.

Sleeping Beauty star Emily Browning put an even edgier spin on the trend when she gave a grayish lavender shade a go. It’s a bold move, but with just a couple of inches dyed, it’s also sort of subtle! The actress is totally gorgeous and we think her wavy bob is perfection, so she might actually pull of this look. Vote in our poll or tell us below: Are you loving Browning’s dyed gray ends?

Winter Skincare Tips from Kate Middleton and Victoria Beckham’s Trusted Pro

Winter brings a lot of fun, but it can also bring some serious skin problems. Harsh temperatures and whipping winds dry the skin, but walking into warm buildings can totally confuse it. “Skin has to fight for its life against infections and bugs that are common this time of year,” British skincare expert Julie Cichocki tells PEOPLE. “All this can make the skin dry and increase sensitivity.”

To combat those effects, many women slather on the moisturizer, but Cichocki warns against this. “That can result in blocking the pores, bombarding the skin, preventing it from breathing and consequently increase the problems,” she explains. “We like to keep it simple.”

Nina Garcia’s Favorite Holiday Shop? Target!

Project Runway's Nina Garcia Shops at Target
Mark Davis/PictureGroup

In addition to her duties as fashion director at Marie Claire and a Project Runway judge, Nina Garcia is also a proponent for frugal fashion.

“I was at Target last week and went crazy,” she tells Racked. “I found the cutest charcoal sequined clutch for $17! It has a strap to wear cross-body or you can tuck the strap inside — voilà! Two different looks. My rule during the holidays is if it sparkles and shines and makes you feel fancy, wear it!”

That said, she always comes back to a less is more principal. “Coco Chanel gave us the best wisdom here: Before leaving the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror, and remove one piece of jewelry,” she suggests. “If you are wondering if it’s too much, it probably is.”

And one thing that’s always too much? “No one over the age of 10 should buy Crocs — unless you are Mario Batali,” she says definitively.

Gifts to Give: Charitable Charms from Altruette

Dreidel Charm

Each one of Altruette‘s delicate charms represents a cause, ranging from animal welfare to children’s non-profits, and its dreidel ($115-$145) is no different. Fifty percent of profits from the tiny jewel benefit the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, an organization founded in 1881 that helps Jewish and other refugees and migrants escape violence, repression and poverty and find safety in the United States, Israel and elsewhere. To date, the organization has helped more than 4.5 million people worldwide — all based on the principle of “tikkun olam,” Hebrew for to “fix the world.” With Hanukkah about to start, grab one of these golden dreidels, and know you’re making a difference.

Katie Holmes Revisits Lace and Jumpsuit Look

For her 33rd birthday celebration in New York Sunday night, Katie Holmes stepped out with husband Tom Cruise, 5-year-old daughter Suri and one other familiar something: a $1,250 silk Holmes & Yang jumpsuit layered over delicate lace.

Three years ago, after her debut performance in All My Sons on Broadway, Holmes, then a burgeoning designer, selected the same outfit in a contrasting color scheme. Layering the strapless silhouette over a finespun blouse, the actress received conflicting reviews for both her performance — and the sartorial choice.

Critics be damned, the star revisited the look Sunday night, wearing a black version (which she also wore in October) with a mock turtleneck blouse and black-and-white T-straps. We applaud her couture convictions, but want to know what you think. Tell us: Should Holmes retire the jumpsuit and lace look?
