Katy Perry Goes Back to Blonde … Almost

Katy Perry‘s hair has had a bit of an identity crisis this year, but it seems that for now, the California Gurl has settled on a semi-permanent color: blonde with lavender highlights.

Perry popped up at the David Lynch Foundation’s Change Begins Within benefit celebration in Los Angeles on Saturday sporting a chic new bob, which replaces the long lavender locks she’s sported for months. With her California Dreams tour over, it seems the singer is ready for a change.

Lauren Conrad, Kate Bosworth Teach Hair-and-Jewelry Coordination

So it’s not rocket science, but it is an important element of style: what kinds of earrings should you wear with what hairstyles? Luckily, the ladies over at Lauren Conrad‘s site, thebeautydepartment.com, recently tackled that topic with JewelMint cofounder Kate Bosworth — a client of Conrad’s makeup artist and fellow blogger, Amy Nadine.

For starters, Conrad’s hair stylist Kristin Ess suggests “simple” hair with small jewels. “Studs and small stone earrings can get overwhelmed by too much hair,” she writes, adding, “wear a lipstick that will make the color of the stone pop.”

Bosworth also demonstrates ever-popular chandelier earrings two ways: with hair up (“chignons are best,” Ess writes) and hair down, either to the side or behind the ears so the sparklers take center stage.

Jessica and Ashlee Simpson’s Tween Clothing Line Was Their Mom’s Idea

Even though they’re grownups, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson still listen to their mom, Tina. Case in point: it was her idea to have them create a clothing line for young girls together.

“My mother thought it would be great to combine both of our styles, both of our personalities,” Jessica told Fashionista.com Thursday during a party for the line in New York. Though it’s the sisters’ first time working together, “it feels like we always work together,” Jessica said.

The line combines what Jessica calls “Ashlee’s rock ‘n’ roll, cool, boho-chic” aesthetic with her own “all-American girl” look. “I’m pretty classic, I’m pretty easy going,” she said. “Combining the two is always fun.”

And thankfully, working together caused zero tension for the superstars. “We loved being in the approval meetings together, we loved inspiration shopping together,” she shared. “It’s been fun. I feel like all these little girls are wearing stuff that Ashlee and I would both wear.”

Rachel Zoe’s Festive Faves: Jumpsuits, Tuxes and Red Lipstick

She hasn’t started her holiday shopping yet, but Rachel Zoe knows what she’ll be wearing to all the festive parties in the weeks ahead. “I like to always have a couple of go-tos,” she says in the clip above, rattling off stapes like a black jumpsuit, white tuxedo and classic cocktail dress. “Just kind of dress up a little bit more to get in the spirit.”

The stylist is currently celebrating the spirit of competition through her LG Mobile and Alloy-sponsored web series, Style Rules, which pits two fashionistas in a competition to create the perfect look. Zoe and her team of stylists choose a winner each episode, and award a prize package that includes pieces from her new line.
