Gifts to Give: Stocking Stuffers from FEED

FEED Bags

Gifts are always better when they help those in need. Take the expansive line of FEED products, for instance: money raised from a Judith Leiber clutch provides 1,000 school meals; the purchase price of a Teddy bear gives hungry toddlers invaluable nutrients; profits from tote bags feed New York City’s homeless. To celebrate the spirit of giving this season, Lauren Bush Lauren and the FEED team have organized “12 Days, 12 Ways to FEED,” 12 days (obviously) of ideas on FEED-themed gifts to give to others — and give back to the hungry. Monday is day one, and features stocking stuffers like the FEED Kenya Masai Scarf ($30), handcrafted by a co-op of women and deaf artisans living in the African nation. For each scarf purchased, FEED will provide 10 school meals to children through the United Nations World Food Programme’s School Feeding Program. The red-and-blue scarves are pretty darn cute, too! Get the Look: Brooke Charvet’s Chic Chignon

Brooke Burke Hair

The season finale of Dancing with the Stars was a real nail-biter (congrats to the champ!), but one constant throughout the season was Brooke Charvet‘s perfectly coiffed hair. For Monday night’s final showdown, the hostess wore her locks in a low chignon — a classy, classic style.

So just like last week, we asked the stylists at Hotheads how to achieve her look at home. Follow these steps from stylist Sheenon Olson:

1. Create a part and brush your hair smooth. If you want some volume at the crown, spray with a light hairspray and backcomb at the roots. Then gently smooth the hair on top.

2. Gather all the hair into a low ponytail and use a hair tie, making sure the tie is secure — this is the anchor for the rest of this style.

3. Decide how you want the chignon to look. This is where you can get creative! One option is to split the ponytail into three sections, lightly backcomb each section and then braid the hair. Take the braid and wrap it around the base of the ponytail to create your chignon and secure with bobby pins.

If you want something slightly more polished, split the hair into three to five sections and start twisting one section at a time, wrapping it around the base of the ponytail. Create a symmetrical shape with the twisted pieces, and voilà. Tip: Make sure you always aim for symmetry and fullness when making a chignon.

Miss America’s Stylish Advice: Less Skin Is More

Miss America Teresa Scanlan

Growing up in western Nebraska as one of seven children, Teresa Scanlan didn’t always have access to the finest in fashion. “I loved creating my own looks from hand-me-downs by cutting, sewing, tying or gluing articles of clothing to create a different piece,” she tells PEOPLE. “For several years in high school I was also building clothes out of colored duct tape.”

But now, as the reigning Miss America, Scanlan’s sense of style has definitely evolved. “As I traveled this past year, I did my own hair and makeup and chose my own outfits; I actually preferred it that way because there was so much freedom,” she says. “I was able to use my own personal style and get creative.”

Calling Miss America “current and trendy, yet sophisticated, elegant and appropriate,” Scanlan says she always thinks about the impression she might make on others when getting dressed in the morning, and “how my look might be communicating a certain message to them.” In other words, “Less skin is more,” she stresses. “Don’t think that to look stunning you have to show a stunning amount of skin; know your body and find clothing that fits and flatters so you can feel sexy and confident.”

Rihanna Rebels with Second Scent, Rebelle

We already know she’s a Good Girl Gone Bad, but Rihanna plans to rebel even more with her second fragrance, Rebelle by Rihanna, hitting Macy’s stores this December, WWD reports.

Following in the footsteps of her highly successful first scent, Reb’l Fleur, Rebelle is in part the result of a video poll the singer ran on her site; when asking fans if they feel more like a rebel or a flower, 68 percent said rebel — and Rebelle was born.

“My grandmother in Barbados used to call me her Rebel Flower,” Rihanna told PEOPLE when her first fragrance launched earlier this year. As for the decision to create a scent? “Over the years, I layered many different scents to get something that was truly my own,” she explained. “But I wanted … something that said, ‘Rihanna was here.’ Something delicious and special, a fragrance with subtle hints that linger and leave a sexy memory.”
