Melissa McCarthy: High School Cheerleader Turned Goth

Melissa McCarthy spent 12 years in a Catholic school — and that was enough to make her take “a turn” during her final semesters there. During an interview with Anderson Cooper on Monday’s Anderson, the Bridesmaids star said she was voted “most changed” in high school — and for good reason.

“I was super-preppy, then by the end I [had] blue-black hair,” she explained of her Goth aesthetic. “I’d wear turtlenecks for pants. I’d put my legs through the sleeves, I’d put in safety pins and let [the neck] hang. My mom loved it — and so did the nuns.”

Check Out Rihanna’s Capsule Collection for Armani Jeans and Underwear

Good girl gone … designer? Rihanna is parlaying her gig as the face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans into an even bigger job, creating a capsule collection for the brand. The singer designed jeans, T-shirts, accessories and more that will appear in select Macy’s and Bloomingdales locations and on Armani.com in mid-December.

Her Armani Jeans collection includes two T-shirts, two pairs of jeans (one skinny, one boyfriend, her fave), a black leather jacket, a bandana belt and a leather-trimmed canvas backpack. The singer’s “R” logo covers one T-shirt; an outline of her face is prominently featured on the other.

The Emporio Armani Underwear is slightly more Rated R, though; the lace bra-and-panty sets come in cobalt blue and pearl gray and the words “Rihanna for Emporio Armani” are written on the straps. Tell us: Would you buy clothing or underwear designed by Rihanna?

Ellen DeGeneres, Sofia Vergara Get Downright Divalicious in CoverGirl Commercial

Ellen DeGeneres and Sofia Vergara certainly didn’t check their egos at the door when filming their latest CoverGirl commercial — or at least are pretending to play prissy. The ladies are teaming up for the makeup brand’s newest ad campaign, set to air in January, and they’re each bringing their classic comedic timing to the spot.

While warming up for the shoot in the clip above, Vergara tells the cameras that she and DeGeneres are “a perfect match,” while the talk show hostess says she’s “dreading” the taping. As time goes on, Vergara teaches her costar some simple Spanish — but also trades insults with the megastar. Luckily, by the end of the tense shoot the two are exchanging niceties — even a hug!

Like Crazy’s Felicity Jones Named New Face of Dolce & Gabbana Beauty

She stunned critics and moviegoers with her heartfelt performance in the indie film Like Crazy, but in closeups, Felicity Jones is simply stunning. So it’s only natural that the actress was just announced as the new face of Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up, and will appear in ads for the line’s spring Khol Collection beginning in January 2012.

“Jones’s captivating presence, beauty and provocative youthfulness brought her to the attention of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana,” reads a release. “Representing a heady mix of sensuality, confidence and beauty, Jones offers a sense of divine contradiction. Classically beautiful yet modern in attitude, her audacious gaze is impossible to ignore.” The company is positioning the British beauty as an “aristocratic sauvage girl” in its upcoming ads.

Swap Meet! Kate Mara and Sis Rooney Love to Share Shoes

Having a stylish sister definitely has its benefits — especially when you’re a rising star in the spotlight. That’s the case for sisters Kate and Rooney Mara, both finding themselves under Hollywood’s fashionable magnifying glass these days.

“My sister and I, we share a lot of clothes cause we’re relatively the same size,” Kate told FabSugar.com last week during a Michael Kors party in Los Angeles. “We share shoes a lot, although [my feet] are a little bit smaller than hers so I kind of have to put padding in her shoes when I borrow hers, and she has to squeeze into mine.”

The American Horror Story star, whose younger sister stars in the upcoming Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, enjoys shopping for new items just as much as she loves shopping her sister’s closet. “I’m looking for some good booties,” she said. “There are some cool combat boots with studs on them, which I’m obsessed with. I love studs on leather jackets and boots.”

Alicia Silverstone: Secondhand Shopper with a Cause

Rescuing lost dogs with her mom at a young age really made an impression on Alicia Silverstone. In her late teens, the actress started exploring cruelty-free products; by age 21 she was a full-on vegan; and at 23 she was subscribing to an eco-friendly lifestyle.

“It took so much effort to find out what products aren’t tested on animals — that was an ordeal,” Silverstone told reporters recently during a press event for EcoTools in New York. “But then when I became into eco, it took out all of that: if you’re using all-natural products that have no toxic chemicals, it narrows the playing field.”

These days, the actress is a strong advocate for all things green — she even makes the very anti-Hollywood choice of buying used clothes. “My second stop would be organic cotton,” she said. Scouring Craigslist for household items — “Then you get it really locally, and it already exists,” she explained — she stressed that she doesn’t sacrifice taste and style when shopping secondhand, either. “I realize if you’re not happy with what you have, you want to change it out more,” she shared.
