When Prabal Gurung set out to make beautiful, well-made clothes seven seasons ago, he never imagined he’d garner attention from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Amanda Seyfried. “There are so many options out there, and for [SJP] to choose mine, it’s incredible,” he told InStyle.com at a celebration of the New York Times‘s “50 Photographs” collection in Manhattan on Wednesday.

And while early Prabal adopters included Zoe Saldana and Demi Moore, it’s Hollywood’s continued support that leaves the designer humbled. “I really feel grateful and amazed,” he gushed. “I hope that in 20 or 30 years, I still feel as excited about it. Not just [Parker], but with any girl who chooses my clothes.”

Donate Gently Used Coats at Burlington This Season

Sabina LES scarfGetty

If you’re planning some fall cleaning this weekend, consider donating old, gently used coats to Burlington Coat Factory’s fifth annual Warm Coats & Warm Hearts coat drive. Happening now through Jan. 16 at 460 Burlington locations nationwide, the drive provides winter gear to those in need through the One Warm Coat organization. As a thank you, customers who donate coats will receive 10 percent off an entire purchase at Burlington through Jan. 16 — and they’ll probably feel pretty good about themselves, too. Learn more about the drive here, and if you’re feeling innovative, Tweet a photo of yourself donating a coat and use #WarmCoats in your Tweet for a chance to appear on Good Morning America.

Two major singers, two major new scents. Madonna and Katy Perry are both one the verge of releasing new fragrances — Madge’s first, the California Gurl’s second — and both recently sat down with WWD to talk bottles, botanicals and more.

“I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me, but that other people could relate to as well,” Madonna tells WWD. “Something classical and timeless and yet modern.” Recalling the perfume her mother wore — which smelled like gardenias and tuberose — the singer say she wanted to “recreate this scent, but with something fresh and new about it as well.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Offers to ‘Show You Mine’ in New AIDS PSA

First recognized by the Centers for Disease Control in 1981, AIDS has plagued our world for 30 years now. To draw attention to the tragic anniversary — and reignite support for the cause — designer Kenneth Cole, chairman of amfAR, partnered with MTV International’s Staying Alive Foundation to reinterpret the classic red AIDS ribbon.

Cole’s double ribbon is available now on Gilt.com, and 100 percent of net profits will benefit AWEARNESS, the Kenneth Cole Foundation, in support of the Staying Alive Foundation and amfAR. And to promote the pin, a slew of celebrities — including Sarah Jessica Parker and Cyndi Lauper — recently filmed a PSA for the cause (above), urging people to continue supporting AIDS and HIV research.

Makeup Must-Dos Courtesy of Gwyneth Paltrow

“Believe it or not, I am terrible at doing my own makeup,” Gwyneth Paltrow admits in her latest issue of GOOP. “I’m decent at doing it for a friend, but when it comes to my own face, I never get it right.” So to help herself — and all her loyal readers — Paltrow asked her London-based makeup artist Emma Lovell to provide a how-to on daytime and nighttime makeup.

Using Paltrow’s friend Kate Skrype as a model, Lovell starts by cleaning Skrype’s face with cleansing water and cotton pads. “It’s important to take good care of your skin by cleaning and moisturizing,” Paltrow shares. “These are vital steps that yield the best final results.”

After blending moisturizer into Skrype’s skin, Lovell starts with Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation, layers Jemma Kidd Wrinkle Rescue Serum and Brightener under the eyes and curls Skrype’s lashes using the EF|Studio Precision Lash Curler. “This is Emma’s one ‘don’t leave the house without it’ must,” Paltrow says. “Always, always curl your lashes. As Emma says, it wakes up your face.”
