Star-Loved Jeweler Launches Handbag Line on Gilt.com

Creating handbags seemed like a logical step for jewelry designer Matthew Campbell Laurenza, whose MCL accessories have been seen on Julianne Hough, Kristin Cavallari and Carrie Underwood. So when the opportunity arose, Laurenza made two collections for spring — “Gold Crest” and “Purple Crest” — available starting Friday exclusively on Gilt.com.

“I consider bags to be a very important staple in a well-dressed woman’s wardrobe, and believe that they should be precious whether literally or figuratively,” Laurenza tells PEOPLE. “Since I had the means to literally make them precious, I chose to.”

How You Can Give Back This Veterans Day

Discount on shopping site

While reflecting on all our war veterans have done for us today, know that you can give back to the brave men and women of our armed forces, too. Elephant Heart Jewelry designer Elyse Graham decided to help in her own way, donating 50 percent of the proceeds from each of her signature Elephant Heart charm necklaces ($110) to the Bob Woodruff Foundation. Graham was inspired to help after hearing First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden encourage Americans to reach out to military families, and chose the Woodruff Foundation — named for the ABC News journalist injured while reporting from Iraq — because it provides resources and support to injured service members, veterans and their families. Grab your Elephant Heart charm necklace through December, and remember to thank our servicemen and women today.

Melissa McCarthy’s Extremely Embarrassing Spanx Moment

Most of us have slipped (er, pulled) a pair of Spanx on at some point, but we’ve kept them nice and covered with cute dresses, skirts or pants. That’s what Melissa McCarthy thought she was doing when she recently wore a pair to work — but things went totally awry.

The Mike & Molly star told the story hilariously on the Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, describing how she revealed almost all to some men building a fence in her front yard when walking out the door. “It was horrifying,” she recalled.

Why Madonna Had Hairy Armpits in High School

Madonna Harper's BazaarTom Munro for Harper’s Bazaar

Today, she’s untouchable: Madonna has her music career, an upcoming directorial debut, her pick of famous boyfriends and a soon-to-launch clothing line and fragrance. But growing up in the Midwest, life wasn’t always easy for the Material Girl.

“The boys in my school would make fun of me,” she reveals in the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar. They called her “‘hairy monster.’ You know, things like that,” she recalls. “And then, going to high school, I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”

The singer says that hanging out in gay clubs as a teen helped her find herself. “Straight men did not find me attractive,” she shares. “I think they were scared of me because I was different.” But that obviously didn’t stop her.
