Emma Roberts: My Makeup Gets Confiscated by the TSA

Since she spends a lot of time flying between coasts to promote various projects, Emma Roberts keeps a big makeup bag on hand. But thanks to tight air security regulations, the actress has had to toss several of her favorite beauty products before takeoff in recent months.

“The amount of things that have been taken away from me on the plane because they’re liquids … it’s a lot,” Roberts told PEOPLE last week at a Johnson & Johnson event in New York City.

Since she prefers to keep her porcelain skin looking perfect, she gets around the rules with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. “Since they aren’t liquids, you can take them on the plane and just wipe your makeup off,” she said. “Even if I don’t wash my face — which is very rare — I always take off my makeup.”

When the Neutrogena girl is putting makeup on for a big night out, she keeps her face clean with a nude lip and winged eye. “It’s always fun and chic, and it pops your eye but it’s not over the top,” she explained. Her secret to perfectly pretty liner? Q-tips! “I was always so baffled at how you do a winged eye,” she shared. “But you just do it, and if it’s sloppy, dip a Q-tip in makeup remover and even it out.”

To really dramatize her look, the Celeste and Jesse Forever star adds some color to her lips, too. “If I go from a meeting to a dinner, I can just throw on a gloss and it looks like I’m ready,” she shared.

Roberts, who joined Neutrogena in 2009, said she loves working as the face of an “accessible” brand. “I wanted to be able to represent something that I use, that my mom uses, that my friends use and that I can encourage people to use and feel good about,” she said. “It just felt like a really good fit.”

Really? Can’t People Mag just make an add for Neutrogena? This is absolutely biased and subliminal

I agree with Olivia about just doing a Neutrogena ad, although I have to disagree with the article being “subliminal”-it was pretty overt. And incredibly boring. Does anyone really need a tip about applying lip gloss between destinations? Or using q-tips for winged liner?
