Former ‘Project Runway’ Stars Cook Up Cute Aprons for Pillsbury

Project Runway for PillsburyCourtesy Pillsbury

What’s cooking? For three former Project Runway stars, a lot! Althea Harper, Kara Janx and Carol Hannah Whitfield were all commissioned to create cute, classic aprons for the upcoming Pillsbury Bake-Off, held in late March in Orlando, Fla.

The ladies were given the competition’s standard logo, then tasked to “make it work,” allowed to add colors, prints, trims and more to the classic cover-ups.

“It felt like a Project Runway challenge, but it was much more fun and much less stressful,” Whitfield, a season 6 alumna, joked to PEOPLE on Monday. The designer’s apron (above, right), trimmed in blue and featuring an exaggerated floral print on the bottom, was “inspired by the Bake-Off logo itself,” she said. “It’s very bright, colorful and fun with flowers and shapes, so I just wanted to accent that with a little bit more color.”

Nancy Shevell’s Wedding Dress Inspiration Revealed

Paul McCartney Wedding DressLefteris Pitarakis/AP

When Nancy Shevell married Paul McCartney in London on Sunday, it wasn’t surprising to hear that Stella McCartney designed the couple’s wedding attire. After all, the newlyweds are front-row regulars at the designer’s fashion shows, and Shevell typically wears her now-stepdaughter’s designs on the red carpet.

But the real inspiration for the bride’s dress, it turns out, came from the Duchess of Windsor, wedding guest Barbara Walters revealed on Tuesday’s episode of The View.

“Stella redid it for her,” the host (the new Lady McCartney’s second cousin) said of the high-necked, long-sleeved crepe gown (below) Wallis Simpson wore when she married the Duke of Windsor in 1937. The designer back then: Mainbocher, a Paris couturier.

New mom, new haircut! Ali Larter recently freshened her hairstyle, debuting a brand-new bob on the red carpet earlier this month. “Ali was looking for a totally re-vamped look,” salon owner Andy LeCompte, Larter’s hairdresser and a Wella Professionals celebrity stylist, tells PEOPLE. “Cutting your hair is a big step for a lot of people, and Ali has had long hair for years. She was excited and ready for the change.”

Thankfully, the actress has no regrets. “She really had a strong idea that she was ready for a fresh new look and was not uncertain at all,” LeCompte shares. “Ali is loving her new cut! She loves the freedom and ease of it.”

Beyoncé Planning a Maternity Line

When mom-to-be Beyoncé was considering dresses for her big reveal at the MTV Video Music awards, she went through nearly 70 gowns. “I was extremely nervous,” she admits in the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar. “It was the toughest red carpet I ever did.”

Finally settling on a flowing orange Lanvin caftan, she greeted photographers with confidence — showcasing her growing belly without a word. “I didn’t want a crazy picture or gossip story to break the news, so I decided to say nothing and proudly show my baby bump,” she says. “I felt it was more powerful to see the love and enthusiasm as opposed to saying anything.”

Since then, she’s said a lot — discussing her marriage and her future child more than ever before — but she still remains focused on work, and of course, fashion. “All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman,” she says. “It’s been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant.” To that end, she says she’s working on a maternity collection for her House of Deréon line — and still wears her stilettos, despite being five-months pregnant.

Alexa Chung Reveals Her Nutty Halloween Costume

Alexa Chung's Halloween CostumeMarion Curtis/Startraks

Women everywhere are copying her style following the debut of her Madewell collection, but for Halloween, Alexa Chung is going to wear something that’s all her own.

“A palm tree,” Chung told FabSugar.com recently when asked what she’s dressing as on Oct. 31. “I’m going to wear brown tights and a brown leotard and I’m going to make a sort of headpiece into green leaves.” And no palm tree ensemble would be complete without a coconut bra, which the star also intends on adding to the outfit.

That’s not all she’ll be wearing this fall, though: the model admitted she’s coveting a few key items, including a black roll-neck sweater and a pale pink mohair coat by Philosophy. “That whole ’60s fall collection they did was perfect,” she said. And she’ll be drawing inspiration from her style icons — Keith Richards, Wednesday Addams and the Beatles, to name a few. Hmm … are we sure she’s not still talking about Halloween? Tell us: What are you going as for Halloween?
