Bethenny Frankel Gets a Ponytail Style of Her Own: The Skinnygirl

As it turns out, creating the perfect ponytail can be quite hard. “There are many styles: the messy pony, the sexy pony, the sleek pony,” Bethenny Frankel tells PEOPLE. “I’m finding out that it’s more difficult than I thought. I don’t do a good ponytail — it’s hard to do it on yourself.”

So to simplify the process, Drybara blowout bar expanding through New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, San Diego and Dallas from the Los Angeles area — is adding the Skinnygirl ponytail to its “menu” of hairstyles.

“We’ve been a big fan of Bethenny for a while,” Drybar founder Alli Webb tells PEOPLE. “I work with a bunch of girls, and they’re all about Skinnygirl — we love the margaritas. Everybody’s been raving about them.” Because the bar has a sweet lounge theme — customers sip complimentary wine or champagne as their tresses are treated — adding a Skinnygirl style to the rotation seemed like a perfect fit.

“Their menu is a cocktail menu of hairstyles, so it’s a good synergy,” Frankel explains. “Eventually, as the partnership grows, there could be a hairstyle for what the margarita means … like maybe a more Latin look.”

For now though, the $40 Skinnygirl will be a high pony that flips out at the end, just like the Skinnygirl logo — a silhouette of a slender girl with a perky pony. “You would think it’s easy, but there’s a lot that goes into it,” Webb says. “You’ve got to smooth the hair, for one — you don’t want a bunch of ridges.”

And since the Skinnygirl logo was inspired by Frankel’s likeness, the Drybar team hopes the style inspires a little je ne sais quoi in the girls who go for it. “She’s the girl I want to be,” the Bethenny Ever After star says. “That’s how I do think of myself — having fun, not taking myself too seriously.” Adds Webb, “She’s the perfect Drybar client.”
