Kirsten Dunst: Melancholia and Shopping

She may be known for crater-deep dimples and alabaster skin, but Kirsten Dunst says she’s all grown up.

“I’m currently cleaning out my closet of childish dresses,” the Melancholia actress explains in the winter issue of T Magazine. “I want to start dressing like I’m 30. Some of the things I have are like, ‘I can’t wear this anymore, it’s not cute.'”

Items on the star’s shopping list include basics from A.P.C. and Balenciaga, which she stocked up on after a self-imposed shopping hiatus. “I didn’t shop for a long time,” she confesses, “People bother you.” Not on the agenda? Trendy items and New York-sourced vintage, which she dubs “too expensive.”

However, like most women, Dunst is a sucker for sartorial romance. “I like it when I do a photo shoot and it’s a fantasy of something,” she says. “You can dress me up.”

She is so beautiful!

Good for her. I think a lot of women try to dress like they are 16 and it just doesn’t work for most of them. It’s possible to dress your age and still look and feel young at the same time.

She looks lovely either way.

sounds like a good move–can she go advise Madonna to do the same?

Erh- hahaha! Great comment.

She looks lovely. Now maybe Jen Anniston and Julia Roberts can take note and try to age as graceful.

Good for her, and I agree with her. At 30, it’s time to dress like a grown up. There is nothing more pathetic than a women in her 40’s dressing like an 18-year-old. I also think women in their 60’s look ridiculous in LONG bleached blonde hair. And so many old actresses do this. At 60, you’re Grandma, and nothing a man would check out anyway.

Now if she can only ACT her age.

I wish Kristen would give Jennifer Aniston some tips. The woman will be 43-years-old in February, but she seems to be desperate to cling to her youth long past. (insecure) Women like Jen don’t seem to realize that ‘sexy’ isn’t always about the T&A or nude magazine covers.
