Taylor Swift's Curly Coif: Inspired by the Seasons?

Taylor Swift is known for her perfectly-coiled ringlets, but catch her at the right time and you might find her with a flatiron.

“It’s a very seasonal thing for me — I always feel the need to straighten my hair when it’s winter,” the perfumer tells PEOPLE. “In the winter months I’m like, ‘Oh, what am I going to do today? I think I’ll straighten my hair today.'”

Although it doesn’t appear that the songstress ever has a bad hair day, she says when she’s not loving the way her coif looks, she conceals it by “putting on a beanie. Or a side braid.”

But thankfully, those typical curls don’t take much effort. “A 3/4-in. curling iron and bobby pins,” she says of the essentials. “I don’t really put anything on it because if you have curly and you put too much product on it, it can get crunchy, which nobody likes.” Tell us: What do you think of Swift’s seasonal hair tactics?
