Lea Michele's Plan for Fashion Success: Don't Listen to Others

When she was told she wasn’t pretty enough for fame, she persevered, so it’s not surprising to learn that on her rise to fame Lea Michele didn’t listen to unsolicited fashion advice, either.

“Ryan Murphy had told me, ‘Don’t wear black. You should never wear black,'” she recalls to InStyle.com when talking about her first Golden Globes. “So my stylist pulled floral, beautiful colors.”

But once another dress caught her eye, there was no turning back. “As I’m walking to the bathroom to try them on, I see the Oscar [de la Renta] dress hanging up in her closet. I said ‘I’m wearing that,'” she shares. “And I called Ryan, and said ‘Ryan, I’m wearing black!'” Looks like putting her well-heeled foot down paid off: the dress earned raves, and the Glee star calls it one of her “most memorable” red carpet gowns. Tell us: Are there any colors you don’t wear?

It was a good first major red carpet choice. I liked it a lot.

Dana – Lyndsay, I have been a follower of you for a long while now back from the Knot/Nest you’re dhteaugr and mine are the same age I was also on ILP JSO/Biz just wanted to say what an absolute GIFT you have given this family, to be able to remember the day of their dhteaugr’s birth in such a beautiful way, with the emotion just POURING through your photographs. In my humble opinion, I really think your calling is birth photography, it is by far the most outstanding work I have seen of yours.I would love to ask you some questions regarding the logistics of making birth photography work (timing, hospital rules, etc) .if you ever find yourself with some free minutes (I’m sure not often, if ever) I would love to ask you .. . If not, no worries, I know minutes in each day are fleeting and are rightfully dedicated to your family and business.I do hope you realize the gift you have, and are able to give to others. Thank you for sharing this! DanaDecember 27, 2008 10:09 pm
