Stars Go Mad for Banana Republic’s Sleek ‘Mad Men’ Collection

Banana Republic Mad MenBroadimage; Pacific Coast News; Flynet

Mad Men may not be on the air at the moment, but that sexy ’60s style lives on thanks to Banana Republic’s new line of clothes, inspired by the Joan Harrises and Peggy Olsons of the past.

And while we’ve found ourselves going “mad” for the line, it appears Hollywood has, too! Gwen Stefani stepped out earlier this month in the black lace top ($45), which 90210 star Jessica Stroup dressed up for an event over the summer. Giuliana Rancic wore the same blouse in gold for a taping of E! News, too.

Emmy Rossum took her love of lace up a notch, sporting the black knit grace lace dress ($150) on a movie set in Los Angeles. Jaime King rocked the look, too, wearing it in white to a party at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont.

Lady Gaga Answers Readers’ Style Questions!

Lady Gaga Beauty
Ramey

When Lady Gaga teamed up with Cher to record a duet for the music legend’s upcoming album, it was a match made in music — and fashion — heaven.

And in a recent interview with PEOPLE in which she answered questions from readers, Lady Gaga revealed she considered Cher a style icon while she was growing up. Her favorite ensemble? The leather jacket and leotard combo from the singer’s “If I Could Turn Back Time” video.

“I dress like that!” says Lady Gaga. “That’s my everyday look. Maybe just sort of subliminally when I was younger, without even realizing it, one day I knew that was the kind of woman I would become.”

PEOPLE readers had other style questions, as well. You asked, Gaga answered:

Is it true you and your sister are creating a fashion line?
–Jeremy Miguel, Riverside, Calif.

No, we’re not creating one together, but she’s working on her own work and she’s really incredibly talented and I’m so proud of her.

Score the Hairstyles of the alice + olivia Spring Fashion Models

Missing New York Fashion Week? We are, too (even though London had us entranced and Milan is now underway). But thankfully, the team behind alice + olivia’s whimsical spring 2012 presentation is here to help our withdrawal with a sweet behind-the-scenes video of the models’ ultra-glam hair and makeup.

Thomas Dunkin, lead stylist for Sebastian Professional, which handled hair, had two-and-a-half hours to style 43 models (with some help from his team, of course). But long before the big day, he met with alice + olivia designer Stacey Bendet, who shared her inspiration.

“I never like anything to look totally literal to one decade or one period of time,” she says in the clip above. So while the show itself was 1960s-themed, and some models wore mod high buns, many were made to look like they were from the ’20s, drawing inspiration from romantic side-swept hairstyles sported by stars like Diane Kruger — complete with antique brooches pinned on. “The hair works with the clothes because the clothes are quiet eclectic,” Dunkin says.

Want to try that sweet look for yourself? Get it in a few easy steps:

Something’s Brewing: Designers Create Starbucks-Inspired T-shirts

Starbucks T-shirtsCourtesy Starbucks

Starbucks has been providing our sleep-deprived selves with a daily caffeine fix for decades, and now, it’s also providing us with a fashion fix! In honor of the company’s 40 years of coffee and culture, the brand is launching an iconic T-shirt collection, complete with coffee-colored hues.

The bean roasters tapped designers Alexander Wang, Sophie Theallet and Billy Reid — recipients of the past three annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards — to create an exclusive line of tees inspired by the brand.

According to WWD, the three designers all took their own direction with the tees, with Wang’s design (middle) resembling a spilled cup of coffee, Theallet’s (top) featuring a fitted shape with grosgrain ribbon and Reid’s (bottom) looking preppy with a worn-in feel.

The limited-edition shirts are available while supplies last for $85 each at starbuckstore.com and select Nordstrom locations. Tell us: Will you buy a limited edition Starbucks tee?

Who runs the style world? These days, it often feels like one girl: Lauren Conrad. In addition to her LC Lauren Conrad line for Kohl’s and her burgeoning Paper Crown collection — not to mention two successful websites, laurenconrad.com and thebeautydepartment.com — the former reality starlet is planning to launch a beauty line.

“Right now, one of my main objectives is to expand thebeautydepartment.com into a product line,” she wrote on Forbes.com this week, in her final guest post for the site’s lifestyle section. “I am currently researching all of my options, but should begin the process of executing an actual line very soon — stay tuned!”

The Beauty Department — a joint venture with her longtime hairstylist, Kristin Ess, and her makeup artist, Amy Nadine — launched in April of this year, featuring video and photo how-tos on everything from manicures and facials to blowouts and braids.

Fergie Helps Fight Breast Cancer with eBay

eBay Breast Cancer Awareness AuctionCourtesy eBay

eBay is using its online auction powers for a good cause — a fashionable one, that is! The site is teaming up with various breast cancer organizations throughout October, featuring glam auction items from Fergie and other big stars during its eighth annual “Make it Pink” fundraiser.

Hosted by eBay Giving Works, eBay’s charitable arm, the event will allow shoppers to bid on different big-ticket items each week, such as the Christian Louboutin black suede lace-up boots and Marc Jacobs navy blue satin zipper dress worn by Fergie (above).

“Pink means something to many of us. You may have been touched by breast cancer,” the singer said in a statement. “I have, since both my mother and father are cancer survivors and I lost my grandmother to cancer three years ago. As a global ambassador for the Avon Foundation for Women, I am asking you to help make a difference for women, men and their families in the fight against breast cancer.”
