Carrie Underwood Cuts Bangs: What Do You Think?

She’s stuck to a fairly signature, side-swept style for years, but Carrie Underwood really let her hair down over the weekend, debuting big bangs at the AARP Drive to End Hunger Benefit Concert in L.A.

Stepping on stage in a glimmering long-sleeved mini dress by Zuhair Murad, the country star paid tribute to birthday boy Tony Bennett and helped to promote his new album, Duets II (she joins him for a take on “It Had to Be You” on the record). Stevie Wonder performed during the show, held at the Staples Center, too.

Underwood is the second big star to cut bangs this season; last week, Bridesmaids actress Rose Byrne added them to her brunette do, too. Is this a fall hair trend in the making?

How Does ‘Fringe’ Star Anna Torv Go Girly?

We’re already pretty jealous of Fringe star Anna Torv, namely because she works alongside the dreamy Joshua Jackson on her hit FOX show.

But thanks to stellar stylists and a love of fashion, the Aussie starlet also slips effortlessly between her character’s tough style, her easy everyday wear and girly red-carpet gowns.

“On the show, as Olivia, I wear a uniform — primarily a suit, jacket and boots,” she tells PEOPLE. “Anytime I can slip into my own clothes, it’s such a treat, as I prefer going casual whenever possible.”

But bigger deals, like Sunday’s Emmy Awards, are the days she looks forward to most. “An opportunity to go glam, with a high-fashion dress, hair and makeup?” she asks. “Come on, who wouldn’t love that?!”

As fashion icons, Emma Watson and Claudia Schiffer have access to all the lavish jewelry and couture clothing they could ever want. But not surprisingly, the subtle stars both think less is more.

“Jean Cocteau said, ‘Style is a very simple way of saying complicated things,’” Watson muses in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar. So the Lancôme beauty goes for a simple fashion trademark: “If I get it right, a kind of drama whilst looking understated. If I get it right!”

You won’t find Watson dripping in diamonds and extravagant handbags most of the time, either; the actress still carries an “old-school” satchel and claims lipstick as her favorite accessory. “I don’t like to accessorize too much because I want people to see me first and my clothes second,” she explains.

She was your best dressed at the Emmy Awards, and now, you can dress like Sofia Vergara, too! The Modern Family star launched her Kmart collection this week, a line of luxe-looking items that includes skirts, tops, denim, dresses, jewelry, shoes and more at super-affordable price points.

“For a long time I wanted to have a line like this,” the Colombian stunner told reporters in New York on Thursday. “I was able to team with Kmart, create a line for every woman, every size, every ethnicity. [They can] look cute and comfortable and sexy, even when they’re picking up their kids.”

Vergara said she took cues from the fashion runways of New York and Paris, applying big trends to her pieces. “If animal print is in fashion we’ll give them a little bit of that,” the CoverGirl explained. “I wanted a woman to be able to buy clothes and to look in magazines and say, ‘Oh, this looks a little bit like the dress I own for 20 bucks, though this is a $3,000 dress.’”
