Nicky Hilton: ‘I’m an Accessories Addict’

Nicky Hilton NICHOLAICourtesy of NICHOLAI by Nicky Hilton

It comes as no surprise that style guru Nicky Hilton has a love for all things fashionable. But despite the designer shoes and vintage dresses lining her closet, the heiress says it’s jewelry she simply can’t resist. “I’ve been a jewelry collector forever,” she tells PEOPLE. “I love buying it, collecting it, I’m an accessories addict.”

She’s channeling that obsession into something tangible with the launch of her second jewelry collection, NICHOLAI, debuting this week at celeb-loved online fashion boutique Big Drop NYC.

The collection, a line of vintage art deco gems and edgier and more modern statement pieces, includes everything from chic bold cuffs and vibrant cocktail rings to pave and black rhodium rings, and pave noir fan necklaces and rings, many of which were inspired by memories of trying on her mother’s estate pieces when she was younger. “My mom has an amazing collection,” says Hilton, who was also inspired by Elizabeth Taylor and “that whole era” when creating her pieces.

“My beauty tip for a girls’ night out is … the girls,” she tells PEOPLE in the clip above. “We’re all putting each other together while listening to a good playlist.”

Depending on where she goes at night, Saldana says she keeps it casual or goes “very va-va. If you want to go for a glass of champagne somewhere you put on the heels and you do your hair,” she says.

Elizabeth Taylor Jewlery
Forum Press/Rex USA

Her jewelry collection was almost as dazzling as she was. And now, Christie’s is set to auction off some of the most iconic diamonds, gemstones, historic jewels and one-of-a-kind creations that were owned by Elizabeth Taylor.

On Dec. 13 and 14 in New York, the auction house will put a total of 269 jewels up for bid, estimated to be worth more than $30 million. They include gifts from her many husbands, including Mike Todd and Richard Burton — in particular, the 33.19-carat Asscher-cut Krupp Diamond, later known as the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond, which was the first jewel that Burton bought for Taylor.

Other Burton gifts for sale include the famous 16th-century La Peregrina pearl and 17th-century Taj Mahal diamond pendant.

The jewelry auction is part of a larger sale of some of the most prized possessions of the Hollywood legend, who died in March at age 79. Other items to be auctioned include fashions, accessories, decorative arts and memorabilia, the U.K.’s Telegraph reports. A portion of the proceeds will reportedly go to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

Kardashian Kollection Launch PartyDimitrios Kambouris/Wireimage

She may have worn three Vera Wang wedding dresses when she married Kris Humphries last month, but Kim Kardashian says fashion should usually be about mixing high-end designer looks with more affordable pieces. Along with her sisters, the reigning reality TV princess is expanding her fashion empire with the Kardashian Kollection for Sears.

“I don’t think it’s really realistic to be able to have a really expensive, name-brand designers as every piece in your wardrobe,” Kim told PEOPLE at the New York City launch party Tuesday. “We’ll mix a little Kardashian Kollection blazer with some cute jeans, and maybe a nicer top. But it’s all about mixing and matching.”

Kourtney added, “That’s what I’m doing today — Sears with something expensive,” gesturing to her Casadei pumps. “But I also love our Kardashian Kollection shoes; they’re beyond comfortable. I’ll wear those with a little bit more expensive dress.”
