Michael J. Fox’s ‘Back to the Future’ Shoes Go up for Auction

Michael J. Fox Back to the Future Shoes

Ever wonder what sneakers will look like in the very distant future — say, 2015?

Nike is here to remind us. They’ve released 1,500 pairs of Nike Air Mags, the futuristic shoes Michael J. Fox (as the beloved Marty McFly) wore in Back to the Future II as he tried to fit in in the year 2015.

Buyers can head to eBay — where bidding as of Friday afternoon was well into the thousands — until Sept. 18, when the auction ends. According to reports, a pair went for $37,500 at a live auction Thursday night, too. All proceeds will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Designers Forecast Fall Fashion at JCPenney & StyleWatch FNO Party

What do you get when you mix Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Charlotte Ronson, Nicole Miller and PEOPLE StyleWatch? A glamorous Fashion’s Night Out party at JCPenney! The brand’s biggest collaborators were on hand Thursday to celebrate FNO in New York and all of the offerings the store has this fall.

Design director Geoffrey Henning told PEOPLE that when looking for designers to add to JCPenney’s roster, he goes for those with a “contemporary edge. We look at brands that have maybe a bit of a younger feel,” he said. “So if you look at a Bisou Bisou, I Heart Ronson, Olsenboye, you sort of get that more urban, west coast feeling. It’s a different energy, and it fits for us.”

For the fall, Henning is rolling out items inspired by the 1970s. “It’s a really polished look, so a cape is important,” he said. “And fur. If you don’t have something fur then you’ve got a real problem.” Flared pants are back, too, he said, plus lace. “Whether it’s a T-shirt with lace on it or a lace dress or skirt, it’s important,” he shared. “I call it Black Swan — it’s a little romantic in that way.”

Leighton Meester Is ‘No Slave to Fashion’

Leighton Meester Fashion's Night OutCam Griffith CRI/Splash News Online

Though she’s all about labels on Gossip Girl, off screen, Leighton Meester is a jeans and T-shirt girl. “At least in my daily life, I’m not really fashiony,” she told PEOPLE Thursday during a Fashion’s Night Out event at Tiffany & Co. in New York. “I appreciate the times I do dress up, like now, or on my show — when it’s important — and then when it’s not, I’m no slave to fashion whatsoever.”

The actress — wearing a Carven dress, Roger Vivier shoes and a ring by Tiffany & Co. — does admit to changing her views on fashion after joining Gossip Girl. “It inspired me,” she shared. “And doing my show, it’s also sort of helped me to decide who I really am.”

Performing with her band, Check in the Dark, before hundreds of fans Thursday, Meester said she appreciated the energy emanating from New York that night. “I’m really lucky to live here,” she mused. “I was walking down the street earlier and there were stores all open really late, and everyone was having champagne and walking around in their cute outfits and taking pictures, and I was just like, ‘I’m so glad I live in a city that’s like this. You can be anybody here.’”

Eddie Cibrian: Shirtless Ads Are ‘About the Product, Not About Me’

Eddie Cibrian for CharismaCourtesy Iconix

When Eddie Cibrian was told he’d have to take his top off in ads for Charisma towels and bedding, he wasn’t too upset.

“They approached me and said, ‘We want you to represent our brand … And you’re going to have your shirt off in a bathtub, you’re going to have your shirt off in a bed and you’re going to have your shirt off in a pool,’” he recalled to PEOPLE Thursday during Fashion’s Night Out at Bloomingdales in New York. “So I said, ‘Well that’s realistic, because I don’t take a bath with a shirt on, I don’t sleep with a shirt on and I don’t swim with a shirt on, so it’s all good.’”

So The Playboy Club star stripped down, posing playfully in Charisma’s bright bedding. “You have a lot of people on the photo shoot looking at you, going, ‘Oh that looks wonderful, that’s unbelievable … those sheets look great,’” he joked. “I realized it was all about the product, and not about me.”

Five Questions for Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth Olsen FashionRob Kim/FilmMagic

On the road to becoming a cinema darling, Elizabeth Olsen is coming into her own — and about to make a splash at the Toronto International Film Festival. But when we caught up with her Wednesday at the Missoni for Target pop-up shop event in New York City, the talk was all about style — she is Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s little sis, after all! Here’s what she had to say about shopping, her siblings and more:

Do you enjoy shopping? “I like shopping, but I have to be in a mood,” she told reporters. “I’m very lazy, I never return anything. I usually try to find someone else who’s going to want it.”

Do you have any design aspirations? “No, not at all.”

Have your sisters been role models for your own career? “It’s always just like, kind of focus on your work and not let anything else come between you and what you want to do and who you are,” Olsen said. “We don’t actually talk about work much, but they’re just great people and supportive and inspiring and creative.”
