Dressing Up in ’60s Garb Is Christina Ricci’s ‘Dream Job’

Actress Christina Ricci was born in the 1980s, but the 1960s were definitely her favorite era for fashion. So it’s not surprising to hear that dressing up and acting on her new 1961-set sitcom, Pan Am, is her “dream job.”

“[The show is] very glamorous. When we were on our ‘layovers’ we were dressed up really glamorous,” Ricci told PEOPLE recently during an Alexander Wang bash at the PlayStation Living Room in New York. “I love being dressed up and very ladylike.”

However, she’s also conscious of how to dress for her petite frame. “I get lost in clothing that isn’t really fitted to my body,” she said. Looks that combat that? “I could live in a pencil skirt,” she shared. “It’s like the ideal skirt for my body.”

But regardless of her likes and dislikes, she constantly finds herself drawn to those looks of the past. The celebrated star says she’s a “big vintage shopper” and likes the variety that ’60s clothes offer. “That era … it’s really feminine,” she explained. “[And it] also had a great sense of humor about it.”

Catch Ricci in Pan Am, which premieres Sunday, Sept. 25, on ABC.

Anderson Cooper vs. Conan O’Brien: Whose Hair Is Best?

They’re two of television’s most entertaining men, but Anderson Cooper and Conan O’Brien have more than just good senses of humor going for them: they have great hair, too!

According to a recent Facebook poll sponsored by Pert Plus, however, ‘Silver Fox’ Cooper earned the title of “Best Hair on TV,” besting redheaded O’Brien by a mere 134 votes. The competition got a little dirty at times, with Cooper putting O’Brien’s hair on his “Ridiculist” and O’Brien Tweeting in jest, “Sorry @AndersonCooper, but as long as there is blood in my scalp, my hair shall defeat yours. (Maniacal laughter).”

Although Cooper and O’Brien came out on top in the competition, they weren’t the only men in the running for the crown: other coif contenders included Ashton Kucher, Fabio and Mario Lopez. Tell us: Do you agree that Cooper has the best hair on television?

Beyoncé, Tina Knowles Start London Fashion Week with a Bang

Beyoncé and mom Tina Knowles made their hotly anticipated London Fashion Week debut on Saturday night, presenting their House of Deréon autumn/winter 2011 collection inside a decorated car park at London’s Selfridges department store.

“It’s been such a great journey,” the expectant star told reporters in the clip below. ”We’ve been working so hard on this. It is a dream come true.”

Inspired by Beyoncé’s extensive travels, the “Global Nomad”-themed collection was an exotic and glamorous clash of cultures. From tribal Aztec-print dresses with feather headpieces to a flamenco frilled dress, the looks were set off with warrior-style gold face paint and embellished turbans.

Models strutted to the singer’s recent single, “Run the World (Girls),” and front row guests including Rosario Dawson and British singer Ellie Goulding applauded the mother-daughter designing duo, who walked the runway hand-in-hand at the end of the show.

Jane Lynch Shines in Her Four Emmy Gowns

The jury is still out on her hosting skills, but one thing is certain: Jane Lynch sparkled onstage at the Emmy Awards Sunday night. The Glee star, tapped to host the awards in June, wore four David Meister creations throughout the evening, complementing her tall, slender frame.

Lynch arrived on the red carpet in a custom strapless evening gown in aubergine chiffon with a ruched bodice. Hitting the stage after her rousing opening number, Lynch appeared in a pewter tissue lame keyhole frock, supported by what she said were “triple Spanx.” Midway through the three-hour show, the hostess changed, opting for a rose jacquard ball gown, complete with crystal beaded pockets. And to cap off the evening, she wore a metallic sage jacquard halter.

Sunday night’s Emmy telecast had us seeing red — but not in a bad way! The night’s biggest stars arrived at the show in a slew of gorgeous gowns, ruling the red carpet in dramatic shades of scarlet.

Glee‘s Lea Michele was among the first to set the trend in a bright Marchesa gown with embellished shoulders. Winner Kate Winslet followed suit, flaunting her famous curves in an Elie Saab dress. Red-hot Modern Family star Sofia Vergara went for a bombshell look with her dress (and makeup), slinking into the show in Vera Wang. Meanwhile, presenter Kerry Washington brought some sparkle to the Emmys in her Zuhair Murad gown, while Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev stunned in her mermaid-style Donna Karan dress.

Other stars who had us on red alert? The Office‘s Angela Kinsey, nominee Mireille Enos and pre-show hostesses Nancy O’Dell and Giuliana Rancic. Naturally, they all looked lovely in their crimson gowns, but we want to know: Which look was your favorite?
