Olivia Palermo's Fashion Site Launches Next Week — and a Line Isn't Far Behind
Love her or hate her, you can’t deny that Olivia Palermo has stellar style. The former City star, a New York City socialite, has a totally enviable wardrobe filled with everything from high-end Mulberry and Tibi to affordable Topshop and Zara.
“My personal style is classic … eclectic in a way,” she tells FabSugar, citing Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly as her style icons. “I love accessories and playing [with] color … and menswear. I love, love menswear. I have a little bit of tomboy in me.”
Because so many fashionistas follow her every stylish move, Palermo is launching OliviaPalermo.com next week, a blog that mixes Lauren Conrad‘s advice-driven Beauty Department with Gwyneth Paltrow‘s GOOP.
“It will be more of a lifestyle blog for sure,” she tells Fashionista.com. “I’ll touch on my favorite designers and trends I see on the street — like snaps of really cool girls I see in Tokyo. Or if there’s a boutique in St. Tropez or Barcelona that I like and want to revisit. It will be a little bit of everything.”
Palermo will write a few posts per week for the site, plus an “editor’s letter” once a month. She’s hired a team of talented writers — including a former ELLE colleague — to round out the content, and plans to make the site shoppable, too. “With the rise in e-commerce, I can give young designers even more of an advantage [when I feature them on my site],” she shares. “We’ll put a lot of young emerging designers on the site because that’s important to me.”
Don’t think the site will be all about couture, though; Palermo will have tips for the everyday girl, too. “If your sweater is pilly, I’ll show you how to take a razor to it,” she shares.
And since she is such an expert, Palermo says that yes, designing a line of her own will happen down the line, after the blog finds its footing. “I want to build my fashion company the proper way, in time. I can wait a little bit,” she shares. “But once I settle down a bit more and create a line it will most likely be evening wear.” Tell us: Will you visit OliviaPalermo.com?
