Avril Lavigne on Kylie Jenner’s Runway Debut: ‘I Love Her Edge’

When Kylie Jenner sashayed down the runway at Monday night’s STYLE360 Abbey Dawn fashion show, more than a few familiar faces dotted the front row: show spectators included sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, brother Brody Jenner and bro-in-law Kris Humphries.

The perfect synergy of talent and good looks (Abbey Dawn is designed by Brody’s flame Avril Lavigne, after all) resulted in what Kylie dubbed “a family affair.”

“I loved having my family there,” Kylie gushed to PEOPLE after the show. “They made me so much more comfortable!” Aside from taking candids and offering up a congratulatory bouquet, family members also took to the Internet to express their admiration. “She was so fab,” big sis Kim Tweeted, with Brody sweetly concurring: “She looked beautiful and was such a natural. Proud to be her brother.”

Fully embracing the Abbey Dawn aesthetic, which includes slogan tees, studded accessories and party frocks, the 14-year-old even confessed to stealing one element straight off the runway. “I’m obsessed with it,” she told PEOPLE of her newly dip-dyed strands. “I did “Rihanna red” over Spring Break, but I was just like, ‘This isn’t me!’”

But does the novice model she have a future in the industry? “She did a really good job,” Lavigne admiringly told PEOPLE after the show. “I love her edge.”

For all of you who feel that Kylie and Kendall are bonusing off of their sister’s popularity….SO WHAT, IF THEY WERE YOUR SISTERS AND YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITIES THEY ARE HAVING YOU WOULD BE DOING THE SAME THING. So stop hating!!

What 14 year old wouldn’t want to model in a fashion show? What family wouldn’t help a younger sibling out?
Khloe is beautiful,has a very good heart and Kylie looks just like her.
Kylie is probably also a very good athlete like her dad.
It’s not about conforming to someone elses’ idea of pretty.It’s about loving yourself and others.
Sorry to see you posted your were not the “prettiiest”‘ you are -everyoie is in their own individual way.
Don’t buy into the negativity and No sayers. Trust yourself. Be kind to others and enjoy!

Kylie- you look amazing and should be very proud to come from such an amazing family. Its a shame that this world has so many negative people in it.

Someone posted that this lovely young woman has heavy legs and an ‘OK’ face. This is why the young women of today have complexes. This lovely oung lady is healthy, proportionately correct, not heavy in the least, projects confidence and – by extension – a comfortableness with herself: two qualities we should be celebrating in young women. I’d rather see this young woman – even though her name IS Kardashian – than the sickly, bony, no curve, emaciated wax figurines some designers choose. Celebrate curves on a woman – you’d rather hold on to those than a bone. I congratulate her on her first success, and wish her many more. Really, People: to let such comments stand is reprehensible. And by the way – those gams are frikkin’ fabulous. All the way up. I hope she keeps that confidence in herself and in her look. She should not doubt she is a lovely young woman. Her family and Avril have a perfect right to be proud of her, even if she and they are Kardashian/Jenners.

Kate Moss doesn’t have model looks either – to me she’s just a plain Jane: she’s “short”, has crooked teeth & thin hair. Yet, she’s become successful. I don’t see why the same couldn’t happen to Kylie. She should take the chances she’s given and pursue her dreams…

All of the girls are pretty, but the younger girls are taller than Kim and Kourtney, so they are perfect for runway modeling.

I might look like Khloe and not as pretty as Kim or Kendall but I had a great time and I am more interested in cheerleading than showbiz anyway
