How Katy Perry Achieved Her Dream Hair Shade

Katy Perry Hair ColorBruja, Sharma/Pacific Coast News

When Katy Perry asked Rita Hazan to take her raven locks lavender, the veteran stylist knew it was a lofty goal.

“Changing from black to a lighter shade is not an easy process,” the colorist-to-the-stars confides to PEOPLE. “You have to strip the black from the hair and go in phases of color in order to keep hair healthy.”

Undeterred by the process, which took “about a month to lighten her hair and reach the shade we wanted,” Perry remained committed to her target hue of lavender. “Katy loves her color,” says Hazan. “Even after all the changes to reach her final shade.” However, that’s not to say she’s keeping it forever. “I think she’ll continue to change it up and surprise her fans,” Hazan hints.

Battle of the Vamps: Robert Pattinson Wants to Create a Clothing Line, Says Kellan Lutz

Twilight hunk Kellan Lutz is expanding his resume with design and modeling gigs for Abbot + Main, but the actor says that being in touch with his fashionable side doesn’t make him any less of a man.

“I think a strong, masculine guy can have soft qualities as well,” he told PEOPLE recently at the WWE and Creative Coalition’s Be a STAR event in L.A. “My line is not the girly-girl line. It’s a comfortable line for guys, and that’s how I live my life. I want to be comfortable. I can still be tough. I can still run.”

To find inspiration for the collection, which hits Nordstrom stores soon, Lutz went straight to his own closet. “Every decision came through me,” he said. “All of the designs, we raided my closet, stuff like that. I know exactly what kinds of comfortable clothes I like, so it’s all about the fine linens, knits, tops.”

He’s been known to take on the role of personal shopper, and she dishes out her sassy style opinions on E!’s Fashion Police. So it’s only natural that Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne are teaming up to promote a back-to-school campaign with Macy’s, combining fashion, shopping rewards and charity, all to benefit DoSomething.org.

To participate, shoppers can visit any Macy’s mystylelab department through Oct. 15 and scan a special QR code, or “Like” mystylelab on Facebook; either action triggers a $1 donation (up to $250,000) from Macy’s to DoSomething.org. Teens can also take the Do Something Cause Quiz, which will enter them into a contest to win a $250 shopping spree from Macy’s. Anyone who takes part in these initiatives will also receive information on how he or she can help out with issues like bullying and the environment in his or her community.

“I represent youth empowerment in whatever way you possibly can do it, whether that is in your community or for yourself. Do Something has always been a great channel, a great platform for kids to funnel their energy through,” Cannon said in a statement. “I hope Do Something plays a major part in my kids’ lives.” For more information, visit DoSomething.org/macys, and be sure to watch the Do Something Awards Thursday, Aug. 18 at 9 p.m. ET on VH1.

What Color Gown Will Kim Kardashian Wear on Her Wedding Day?

Kim Kardashian Wedding Dress Fitting
Fame

Will Kim Kardashian make her wedding gown her “something blue”? Or will she pick pink, like Reese Witherspoon? Maybe red or navy, to pay homage to fiancé Kris Humphries’s New Jersey Nets? Whatever color she chooses, it seems like Kardashian may be going the nontraditional route with her wedding dress hue for Saturday night’s nuptials.

The reality star’s wedding invitation mandates a black-tie dress code, and guests were instructed to “please wear black or white.” Perhaps not-so-coincidentally, her wedding invitation was black and white, and her shower stuck to that color scheme, too.

So what have Kardashian and Vera Wang created? Will the bride choose a white gown and keep up the color coordination? Will it complement the green bridesmaid dresses? We’ll find out Saturday, but in the meantime, tell us what you think.

Emma Stone is doing her Hollywood “It” girl reputation justice.

The actress not only received top billing in The Help and Crazy, Stupid, Love, but was also just named a new face of Revlon, alongside Olivia Wilde. On top of that, celebrity stylist Brad Goreski calls her the most stylish starlet in young Hollywood.

“I think Emma Stone wears really high fashion looks with ease,” Rachel Zoe’s former protégé told PEOPLE recently at the InStyle Summer Soiree at the London Hotel in West Hollywood. “I think her hair and makeup is always flawless. I just think she’s really cool.”

Although the style expert (who dresses the likes of Jessica Alba) says he’s never worked with the redheaded cutie, he has no hard feelings.
