Drew Barrymore Channels Old Hollywood in Neiman Marcus’s Fall Campaign

Drew Barrymore Neiman MarcusNorman Jean Roy for Neiman Marcus

Sitting atop a smoking car, her bright red hair fanned out behind her, Drew Barrymore makes quite an impact as the face of Neiman Marcus‘s “The Art of Fashion” campaign. The actress poses in a series of photos for the retailer, modeling looks from designers like Akris and Valentino in ads that will appear in the September issues of Vogue, Vanity Fair and W. “The shoot tells the story of a star’s transformation,” Eddie Nunns, vice president of Neiman Marcus brand creative, tells WWD. “We felt that Drew Barrymore possessed not only the pedigree and glamour of old Hollywood, but also the confidence and spirit of the modern-day woman — much like Neiman Marcus itself,” he adds in a statement. Shot by Norman Jean Roy, this is just the second Art of Fashion campaign to feature a celebrity; Jennifer Jason Leigh served as the face for the inaugural promotion in 1994. According to Nunns, Barrymore was quite involved with the operation, right down to the hair styling. “She’s a powerful, modern woman with trans-generational appeal,” he says. “The project … beautifully captures the essence of Neiman Marcus’s edits of the fall collections.” –Kate Hogan

Bethenny Frankel’s Newest Business Venture? Skinnygirl Skin Care

Bethanny Frankel's Beauty LineNeilson Barnard/Getty

She convinced us to throw out our granny panties in favor of lingerie and swap those high-calorie cocktails for her famous margaritas, and now, Bethenny Frankel is helping make beauty buys accessible for everyone with a budget-friendly body and skin care line. The reality star recently partnered with beauty firm Lotta Luv to create Skinnygirl Face & Body Solutions and Skinnygirl Mommy, and as usual, she’s not sugar-coating anything when it comes to talking up her new products. “[Promises like] ‘You’re going to look like Heidi Klum in two days’ or ‘[Look] like you had a face-lift’ have always bothered me,” she tells WWD. “Skin care can be confusing and I want to be straightforward.” The new products, available at Wal-Mart stores starting in November, will include an assortment of lip treatments, face solutions, body solutions and gift sets with an emphasis on problem-solving products like shimmer plumping lip gloss, detox face masks and a gradual tanning body shimmer. Frankel is also giving moms a hand with the Skinnygirl Mommy collection, which will feature items like a cooling foot spray for busy, overworked mothers. “I do buy brands that are not expensive, ones that don’t spend all the money on the packaging but on the ingredients inside,” she says while explaining her low-cost line. “A $150 eye cream is ridiculous and absurd.” Tell us: Will you buy items from Frankel’s body and skincare line? –Kim Peiffer

See Dylan Lauren’s Wedding Dress — Designed by Dad!

When Dylan Lauren first saw her wedding dress, designed by her famous father, Ralph Lauren, she was speechless. “I may not take off the dress after the wedding,” Dylan joked to Oprah Winfrey during a family interview in May. “I told my fiancé I may sleep in it, I may wear it the next day. It’s really beautiful. It’s stunning.” Now we get to see it, too: the August issue of Vogue includes a feature on Dylan and hedge fund manager Paul Arrouet’s June 11 nuptials in Bedford, N.Y., complete with a photo of the dreamy gown. But creating the dress wasn’t so easy for Dylan’s esteemed designer dad. After consulting with wife Ricky, as well as Dylan, Ralph went through “a few drawings” in hopes of pleasing the bride. “Ricky looked at the first drawing and said, ‘Ralph, that’s not Dylan. I think she should have this and should have this,’” Ralph told Winfrey. “Nothing was perfect.” Indeed, the pressure was certainly on. “I had to do something that was better than ever before,” Ralph said. “That’s the only daughter I have. I wanted to just give her something that she’d really treasure, give her something that would be really amazing, and I wanted her to feel fantastic.” It seems that mission was accomplished. But Ralph doesn’t get to rest just yet; he’s currently designing the wedding dress of his daughter-in-law-to-be, FEED founder Lauren Bush. –Kate Hogan

He’s busy with his brand new daughter and he’s even launching an underwear line, but British soccer star David Beckham is making time to further expand his empire with a second fragrance. The soccer stud just announced the launch of David Beckham Homme, a citrus-based scent with notes of ginger, pine and fiery pepper. “David Beckham Homme is a strategic launch for us and represents a key new orientation for the David Beckham fragrance brand — getting back to the male roots of the brand, enhancing David as an athlete and an aspirational man and building a new pillar to the David Beckham franchise,” Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing for Coty Beauty, tells WWD. In these behind-the-scenes shots from the campaign, shot by Alasdair McLellan and shared on the star’s Facebook page, Beckham is photographed against a dark background, looking handsome in a crisp gray suit. The print ads will be accompanied by a TV commercial and a website dedicated to the scent when it launches in September. Tell us: Will you buy Beckham’s new fragrance? –Kim Peiffer

Katy Perry Goes Blonde!

Katy Perry Hair Color

She’s a ginger no more! Just one month after debuting her summery red hair, Katy Perry pulled another quick change, popping up on MTV News Thursday with newly blonde locks. And while her latest hair hue is a big deal — she’s had black hair for as long as we can remember — it’s not quite a surprise, considering the pop star is a natural blonde. She’d given us warning, too: a week before stepping out with her red locks, Perry Tweeted about an impending change. “tonight I dye my hair a different color… Can you guess which color?!” she teased to fans. However, she later hinted that something had gone wrong. “So I didn’t get to the exact color I wanted from being black for so long,” she wrote. “2get to goal I have 2b GINGER for 3WKS.” Later calling the process an “#epicfail,” she shared, “If I don’t wait 3wks, I’ll end up w/no hair or a #pixie90scutw/abarretteinthefront It’s okay, I’ll get to my secret color(s) soon! #patience.” Seems like it was worth the wait. Tell us: Do you like Perry as a blonde?

What’s Up with Robert Pattinson’s Hair?

Not since Justin Timberlake’s curls has a male star’s hair caused such a stir. Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson, who came onto the scene with his trademark untamed tresses, gave fans a rise when he chopped his hair in 2008. Since then, the brooding actor’s lush locks have been the topic of much scrutiny: a tamed look drew criticism, a cleaned-up style was dubbed debonair and a red hue had admirers divided. Now, the Water for Elephants star has done it again, changing his hairstyle into something that might be dubbed a semi-buzz. At Comic-Con in San Diego on Thursday, the actor turned up (with his costars) to talk Breaking Dawn Part 1 sporting a style that was half-cropped, half-wild. But fear not: the cut appears to be for his role in the upcoming thriller Cosmopolis, a movie centered on a young man who makes an odyssey across Manhattan in order to get a haircut. However, just like his new look, we’re feeling a little divided: Do we like it or not? Tell us: What do you think of Pattinson’s new look?
