Ahoy, Ladies! Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Wear Nautical McQueen

Anchors aweigh! The Duchess of Cambridge kept up her cream theme this week in a navy-trimmed, nautical-inspired dress by the brand behind her wedding gown, Alexander McQueen, for an appearance on her North American tour. But it wasn’t the first time we’d seen a star looking ready to set sail in a creation by the late designer. Sarah Jessica Parker (just announced as one of Hollywood’s top-earning actresses!) wore a strikingly similar McQueen dress — with the colors in reverse — for husband Matthew Broderick’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling in 2006. Parker paired her look with bright red peep-toe shoes, while the Duchess stayed neutral, selecting navy pumps to finish her look. Tell us: Whose McQueen do you prefer?

The Scoop on Olivia Palermo’s Low-Budget, High-Fashion Looks

She’s a socialite and former reality starlet with a phone full of designer’s numbers. But Olivia Palermo has taken a decidedly wallet-friendly approach to dressing lately, donning store-bought looks while sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week. On Monday, the former City star grabbed a seat at the Giambattista Valli show wearing a bright yellow midi dress by Topshop (available only in the U.K.). Dressing it up with sandals, necklaces and perfect curls, Palermo looked cute and couture. Later, she popped into the Stephane Rolland show, this time in Zara’s “tulip-skirt” dress ($70) accented with purple pumps, big jewels and a wild bag. Perhaps it’s practice: according to WWD, Palermo is planning to launch a style-centric blog in “midsummer.” Regardless, she’s following in fashionable footsteps: both the Duchess of Cambridge and her chic sister, Pippa, have been spotted in Zara in recent weeks.

Quoted: Zoë Kravitz Steals Dad Lenny’s Style

Lenny Kravitz Details
Marc Andrew Deley/FilmMagic; Inset: Stephen Loveki

Lenny Kravitz and his fashion-forward daughter, Zoë, are both known for their slick senses of style. And though they’re individuals, it sounds like there’s a little crossover between the two when it comes to dressing up — sometimes. In the August issue of Details, the rocker says his daughter often finds inspiration right inside of his closet. “Zoë has a lot of my stuff,” he says. “She took all my boas from the Mama Said era. They were in storage, and I yelled at her, ‘Don’t steal my boas!’” But instead of putting the accessories away, the budding fashionista had a quick comeback for her dad. “She laughed and said, ‘Those words would not come out of most fathers’ mouths.’” Tell us: Did you ever steal clothes or accessories from your parents’ closets?

Kate Moss’s Wedding: Four Outfit Changes, Anna Wintour and … Snoop Dogg?

Kate Moss Wedding Dress

When you’re Kate Moss, your wedding isn’t just an occasion to celebrate your love — it’s an excuse to look fabulous, too! The supermodel tied the knot with rocker Jamie Hince in England on Friday, wearing Manolo Blahnik shoes and a custom-designed gown by John Galliano. “He did Kate’s 21st birthday dress, her 30th birthday dress, and Galliano’s show was the first she ever walked for,” a source told WWD. “So this wedding day ties up a lot of things beautifully.” Moss’s husband wore a blue suit by Yves Saint Laurent, and the “best woman,” his The Kills bandmate Alison Mosshart, was in YSL, as well. Most of Moss’s 12 young bridesmaids were outfitted in ivory chiffon dresses created by Bonpoint, though three wore Stella McCartney, WWD reported. But the fashion extended well beyond the wedding party: according to Vogue U.K., guests included Anna Wintour, Daphne Guinness, Marc Jacobs and Kelly Osbourne, who Tweeted, “This is the most beautiful, loving, amazing wedding I have ever been to. It’s magical when you see people really in love!” When it came time for the newlyweds’ first dance, Moss slipped into an oyster silk chiffon Stella McCartney dress with chain-embroidered bodice and cut-out back. Later, she donned a McCartney mini with micro bugle beads and plunging back, dancing along as artists like Shirley Bassey, Snoop Dogg, Iggy Pop, Bryan Ferry and Beth Ditto took the stage. Saturday, as guests including Sadie Frost and Jude Law visited the local Swan pub for a post-wedding lunch, Moss, in a three-piece off-white wool McCartney suit, hopped into a helicopter with Hince as they headed off for their honeymoon. –Kate Hogan

Where Does Katy Perry Spray Her Perfume?

Look out, Duchess — there’s another Kate, er, Katy, making a mark up north. Katy Perry recently brought her first fragrance, Purr, to Canada, and so far the scent’s been a purr-fect addition to the country’s fragrance counters. “It’s been out for nine weeks and it’s been number one for nine weeks,” the singer told ET Canada while promoting the perfume in Toronto. “So it’s very exciting and I feel very loved in Canada.” Visiting our neighbors to the north on her California Dreams tour, Perry also revealed her method for wearing perfume. “I usually spray and walk through. I never spray directly on,” she said. And why? “I’ve heard certain rumors that you’re not supposed to spray directly on the skin. Then it’s not so concentrated, because everybody knows sometimes when a woman walks into a room, she can smell like her grandmother.” As for Purr itself, Perry says the fragrance is “basically me in a bottle. I think a lot of people go up and they go, ‘That’s definitely Katy Perry. This is definitely Katy Perry’s perfume.’” Describing it as “cute,” the singer said she spent time researching perfume packaging before deciding on Purr’s lavender cat-shaped bottle. “I would go into endless department stores all over the world and look at what was on the shelves,” she said. “I remember some of the Galliano perfumes that were like snow globes. I was like, ‘Well, when the perfume is finished I just want to keep this on my mantle, because it’s such a fun little tchotchke.’ So of course the outside is important.” And unforgettable, too. “It’s kind of like the Goldilocks of perfume,” she mused. “It’s not too much, it’s not too forgettable, it’s just right.”
