Will You Take Courteney Cox’s Beauty Advice?

Courteney Cox knows that the best hair dye can be picked up at a drugstore for $9 — but some products, like Edward Bess eye shadow, are worth the splurge. In the spirit of sharing her favorite tips and tricks, the actress is writing a new blog for xoJane.com, the latest creation of former Jane and Sassy founding editor Jane Pratt, where she’ll post at least twice a month, her rep confirms to PEOPLE. (Estranged husband David Arquette created a T-shirt for the site earlier this year.) As the designated home editor for the site, her column focuses on her lifestyle essentials, such as Clairol Natural Instincts Brass-Free For Brunette ($8.99), her favorite hair treatment for “dark-haired girls who don’t like red hues coming through.” She also revealed her Edward Bess products-of-choice, Ultra-Luminous Eye Shadow ($30) and Sheer Satin Cream Compact ($60), in her first post. But she’s not the first celeb style icon who’s taken her know-how to the blogosphere. Gwyneth Paltrow updates fans with lifestyle advice, workout plans and recipes on her online newsletter, GOOP.com, and former reality star Lauren Conrad launched thebeautydepartment.com in April, where she dishes out details on the latest in hair and makeup. Having been in the beauty industry for a number of years, I can tell you BOXED hair color is the worse color product you can put on your hair. If you can’t afford to have your hair colored professionally, then go to a beauty supply and spend a few dollars more for professional hair color. The results are much better and it is healthier for your hair. Some products can be skimped but hair color shouldn’t be one of them.

Strongly disagree…I have been coloring my hair from a box for years. My hair is incredibly healthy; it’s very soft with no damage whatsoever. The few times I have had it professionally colored, my hair has been coarse and dried out.

She always looks gorgeous, looking forward following her blogposts

Sorry, I just wouldn’t take advice from a woman who goes out in public looking like she injected every part of her face. Where is the beauty in that? She’s starting to look like a plastic-y version of her old self. Clearly, if she injects herself with all of these fillers/botox, she has lost her true perspective on what looks good and what doesn’t. No thanks. I’d take my mother’s advice over Courteney’s any day. My mom has taken such good care of her skin, and drinks a lot of water and exercises. And, YES, she also has lines and some wrinkles from aging. But she is natural, in fantastic shape, and I pray I look as great as she does when I’m her age! No thanks, Court :-)

I can and wont take advice from a chick who has botoxed her face into another atmosphere. She looks horrible!! NEVER. Is she bored or something? WHY? WHY?

Totally agree with Cyn. I colored my hair with inexpensive Nice and Easy for over 10 years and it was never shinier or healthier. I get way more split ends and frizz now with my natural hair than I ever did when coloring from a box. I have thought about going back to coloring just for how nice my hair felt, but the one thing I DO like about my natural hair now is the color.

I would never ever take this woman’s beauty advise! She is so botoxed and filled that she no longer even has any facial expressions!! God what happened to aging gracefully??
