When Charlene Wittstock walked down the aisle in Monaco on Saturday, her “something new” was something stunning: a custom Giorgio Armani Privé gown. The now-princess wore a gown made of off-white silk duchesse satin, with a long train and crossover detail on the front and back which formed a second “à l’andrienne” train. The front of the dress, trim and train were embellished with floral embroidery crafted with Swarovski crystals and mother of pearl teardrops in white and gold hues. “The idea was to go for a completely modern look, without any obvious sense of nostalgia or revivalism,” Armani — who also dressed Wittstock’s father and brothers, plus several other wedding guests — said in a release. “I felt this was appropriate given that there would inevitably be comparisons with Princess Grace, and though such comparisons are of course a sign of admiration, each person has their own individual and unique style, and style is an expression of the times.” Wittstock topped her look with an off-white silk tulle veil, which required 20 meters of fabric and more than 100 hours of manpower to create. At the reception, the bride wore a white gold “Diamond Spray” tiara by Lorenz Bäumer, a delicate crown of 11 encrusted diamond pears weighing up to eight carats each. The headpiece was made to reflect Wittstock’s love of the sea, and according to a release, symbolized a “joyous outpouring of ocean foam.”

Now this is a wedding dress…beautiful indeed!

She desperately needed a (useful) bridesmaid to help her spread the train. It was never shown to its best advantage. She needed her own Pippa!

Wrong info on the hair decoration with the wedding dress. She wore the Diamond Spray with her reception dress

I don’t see this last long, I’d bet my paycheck he’s the father of this reported 3rd child. Can’t wait for the results.

I thought the double train look was awkward and fussy. When she was at the altar it looked lopsided. I prefer the Duchess of Cambridge’s gown.

Is it just me or are the sketches always soooo much better than the real thing?!

Watching a brief video of the wedding, I just didn’t see the joy and their kiss just spelled problems. I read that she was stopped at the airport and convinced to return. Granted, this could just be gossip, but I feel kind of sorry for her. Even though they have been together for a long time and she is obviously moving into a lifestyle of enormous wealth and privilege, you have to wonder how many regrets she will have. This seems more Charles and Diana then William and Catherin.
