Charlize Theron Telling Time for Dior

Since first signing on to represent Dior’s J’adore fragrance seven years ago, Charlize Theron has come to consider the legendary fashion house “like family.” So when the brand asked her to serve as the face of the Dior VIII watch collection, the Oscar winner didn’t hesitate. “To work with them again was a no-brainer and when I saw the product I was like ‘That is a good looking watch! I will gladly represent that watch!’” the actress told PEOPLE at the timepiece’s New York launch Wednesday. However, Theron she admits that she’s only recently reintroduced the accessory to her wardrobe rotation. “I didn’t even wear a watch for like 10 years and only two years ago did I start wearing [one] again,” she said. “I really missed it as a piece of jewelry.” While the stunning new timepiece collection may have been the purpose of the evening’s celebrations, the main event was highlighting the work of Theron’s Africa Outreach Project, a charitable organization that works to help impoverished children and communities — especially those dealing with HIV/AIDS — in her native country of South Africa. “Since the birth of this project in 2007, [Dior] has been incredibly supportive,” said Theron. “So having this night to me tonight really means a lot.” –Shruti Dhalwala

EXCLUSIVE: Gucci Dresses Florence Welch on Her Summer Tour

Gucci for Florence and the MachineCourtesy Gucci

The dog days of summer are just beginning — and that means Florence Welch’s tour is about to start, too! Beginning tomorrow, the songstress — the driving force behind Florence + the Machine — will bring her sweet vocals to cities from Berkeley to Boston, and she’ll be doing so in style. Gucci tells PEOPLE exclusively that creative director Frida Giannini designed Welch’s tour wardrobe, which consists of ethereal gowns accented with whimsical touches. “When Florence first came onto the scene, I was captivated by her eccentric style and her willingness to dare,” Giannini says in a release. “I felt there was such an authentic energy to her sound and her look. That was confirmed when I met her at the Grammys earlier this year.” The designer admits that the singer inspired her autumn/winter 2011 collection — and she even set her show to one of Welch’s songs, “Hurricane Drunk.” “[She's] a modern day icon with her cinematic allure and powerful presence,” Giannini adds. For her part, Welch is understandably flattered. “I was completely bowled over by her collection,” she says. “The dresses seemed perfect for my shows, the colours, the shapes, the movement in the fabric. So it seemed natural that we work together on creating some pieces for my upcoming U.S. tour.” When Welch takes the stage at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tenn., on Friday, she’ll be draped in some of Giannini’s designs, including a swirling dotted gown, seen in the exclusive sketch on the left, and a sexier, floral-bedecked number (right). Welch enthuses, “I’m very grateful to Frida, it’s been a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to get dressed for the stage!” Tell us: What do you think of Welch’s Gucci costumes? Kate Hogan

Go Long! Christina Ricci Lengthens Her Locks for Summer

Many girls choose to chop off their hair when mercury rises, but not Christina Ricci! The actress actually lengthened her locks for summer — with the help of some hair extensions. Ricci chose Great Lengths Extensions to add inches to her hair, during a process that took about two hours at Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood. “I love having pretty long hair in the summertime,” Ricci, who has been known to experiment with her hair, tells PEOPLE exclusively, “so I really wanted to get Great Lengths Extensions to wear after the Met Ball and enjoy all summer until I have to change my hair again for a project.” And as for matching the extensions to her current hair color, well, it was a cinch. “Great Lengths provides us with a wide range of swatch colors. Nine times out of 10 the match is perfect,” salon co-owner Nikki Lee adds. “If not, we can always put an all-over toner once the extensions are in for flawless results.” Easy enough! Emma Stone: I ‘Never Felt Dorky’ as a Kid

It’s hard to imagine Emma Stone as anyone but the funny, fresh-faced star of films like Easy A, Superbad and the upcoming The Help. But the MTV Movie Award winner tells ELLE that she did indeed have an awkward phase. “I sucked my thumb until I was 11, so I had this expander in,” she says, adding that she wore glasses and braces, too. “I never felt, like, dorky. I was just like, ‘Yup, these are my braces. I’ve had them forever.’ I was a good-looking kid.” Now, she’s one of Hollywood’s most recognizable redheads, though when she went blonde in December, she was able to fly under the radar a bit. “I mean, I haven’t been around very long,” she says, adding jokingly, “I can’t expect everyone to have seen The House Bunny.” Stone, who dyed her hair for her role as Gwen Stacy in 2012′s The Amazing Spider-Man, says she prefers transforming for films. “It drives me crazy when you see women in movies playing teachers, and they have biceps. It totally takes me out of the movie,” she explains. “I start thinking, ‘Wow, that actress playing this part really looks great!’ I like to look like a person.” Hear more from Stone in the July issue of ELLE, on stands June 21.
