POLL: Which Couple Was the Met Gala’s Most Dashing?

Everyone made a style statement at Vogue‘s Met Costume Institute Gala in New York Monday night, but the best accessory of the evening? A hot guy in a tux! Many of Hollywood’s style stars stepped out with their husbands and boyfriends, who dutifully took a backseat as their leading ladies shined in designer gowns. Co-chair Colin Firth accompanied wife Livia, who wore an eco-friendly Stella McCartney jumpsuit and skirt. New parents Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom almost looked wedding-ready, she in a white Marchesa mini, he in black tie. Fergie, also in Marchesa, was enveloped in lace — and in the arms of her hubby, Josh Duhamel. Gisele Bündchen, in Alexander McQueen (the night’s honoree), stood tall next to her longhaired husband, Tom Brady. Ryan Seacrest and girlfriend Julianne Hough coordinated, both wearing Burberry. And Beyoncé, in Emilio Pucci, got some help walking up the stairs from white-tux-clad husband Jay-Z. We think they all looked fabulous, but want to know: who was your favorite?

Taylor Swift, Ashley Greene Talk Serious Met Gala Dress Prep

Getting glammed up in a designer gown and heading off to Vogue‘s Met Costume Institute Gala sounds like a girl’s dream come true. But it’s not all couture and Cartier: some serious prep work goes into getting ready for such a fashion-forward event. Ashley Greene, wearing a blush tulle Donna Karan gown made just for her, was a prime example. “I had to do some strength training to wear it,” she joked to reporters on the red carpet last night, her mermaid train flowing gracefully behind her. “I saw it and was kind of like, ‘Anything is worth it to wear this dress.’” Meanwhile, pal Taylor Swift, who had to do a bit of maneuvering in order to share a hug with the Twilight star, said her dress was low maintenance — and not even itchy. “I’m comfortable,” she boasted of her fitted J. Mendel creation, adding, “It’s a little difficult with the train. But I’ve experienced worse.” While walking wasn’t a huge problem for the country star, it was getting to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art that proved to be a bit of a challenge. “The car ride over here was interesting,” she admitted. “You have to lay down on the seat and take the train and crumple it up on your lap.” Just as long as you emerge wrinkle-free!

Kate and Pippa Middleton’s Post-Wedding Looks: All the Details!

They may have worn custom Alexander McQueen the day of the royal wedding, but the morning after, both Kate Middleton and her sister, Pippa, had returned to their girl-next-door styles. Newlywed Kate, who strolled the palace grounds with her husband, looked effortlessly chic Saturday morning in a black blazer, Greta wedges by L.K. Bennett (to be re-released as the Kate wedge for $265 in June) and a blue pleated dress by Zara, just $90. And great minds must think alike: Pippa was spotted out in London, too, sporting crisp white pants, cute nude flats and a bright blue tailored blazer, $100, also by Zara. The girls are famous for their sensible style; just days before the wedding, they did some shopping in London, where Kate picked up a variety of reasonably priced dresses and cardigans from stores like Warehouse and Banana Republic, presumably for her honeymoon. The Duchess is also known for her sensible shoes — pumps by British fashion house L.K. Bennett are a fave — and the accessibility of her everyday outfits. We can’t wait to see (and buy!) what the girls wear next.

Gisele: Tom Brady’s Long Hair Is ‘All Good’

Tom Brady has sported his fair share of hairstyles in recent months — remember that ponytail? — but no matter what his locks look like, wife Gisele Bündchen says she approves. The supermodel told reporters Monday evening at the Met Costume Institute Gala in New York that her hubby, who had a long, slicked-back look at the event, can wear his hair however he may please. “That’s his choice,” Bündchen said. “He does what he wants. I love him no matter what — short, bald, fat. It’s all good. It’s all good.” She’s certainly loved a lot of his looks this year, including a shaggy, Justin Bieber-esque cut that eventually grew into the infamous ponytail he wore at Carnival in Brazil. And though the football star can do no wrong in his wife’s eyes, at least when it comes to his hair, we wonder, does she have a say in how how he rocks his locks? Tell us: What length do you think is best for Brady’s hair? –Kim Peiffer

Sarah Jessica Parker Reflects on Her Met Gala Date With Alexander McQueen

The year was 2006. Sarah Jessica Parker, still reveling in her stylish Sex and the City glow, arrived at the Met Costume Institute Gala, designer Lee Alexander McQueen by her side. The pair couldn’t be missed: not only was McQueen in a kilt, but he and Parker were both wrapped in plaid — his family’s tartan. It was McQueen’s first time attending the prestigious event, but no one could’ve imagined it’d be his last. “I adored him,” Parker told reporters last night while walking the carpet at the 2011 Met Gala — a celebration of McQueen — in another of the designer’s creations. “It was a wonderful, wonderful night.” Parker compared her 2006 experience to that of a shy couple preparing for prom. “It was a quiet car ride,” she recalled. “I had his corsage in my lap, waiting until we met. I’m grateful for that memory, which is vivid, regardless of him passing.” McQueen, known for being a bit of an introvert, stuck by his date’s side all night as they navigated the fashionable crowds. “He wasn’t a terrifically chatty person. He’s not comfortable in environments like these. But I find that charming. And we got through the evening.” Parker, who called the designer “preternaturally gifted,” said she hopes people remember McQueen’s talent as a whole. “I think one shouldn’t pick one memory or recall one thing,” she explained. “He could create clothing that nobody else wanted to, nobody else saw in their imagination. And he did it with great seriousness and flair and whimsy and savagery. I think this exhibit is a wonderful example of that.” –Reporting by K.C. Baker and Jeffrey Slonim
