Emma Watson on the Difficulties of Dressing Age Appropriately — and Stylishly!

Emma Watson's New Lancome Fragrance
Pacific Coast News

Emma Watson might be young, but when it comes to red-carpet fashion, she’s wise beyond her years. “I try to dress age-appropriately, which isn’t actually that easy when obviously high-end clothing is designed for women who are older than I am,” she tells WWD. “It’s a fine line to tread between looking smart and looking ready to go on a red carpet but also looking like I’m 21.” The Lancôme face shows similar maturity in her hands-on approach to developing the brand’s Trésor Midnight Rose fragrance, which she represents. “I was involved in the concept for the [ad] film and the tag line, ‘Catch my heart if you can,’” she says. “I had ideas about every aspect. I’m sure I drove [the crew] insane!” So what’s next on her plate? A continued interest in eco-friendly clothing, a possible green collaboration with Lancôme — and growing out her now-famous cropped do. “I’m excited to try to get it into kind of like a bob!” she says.

Rachel Bilson: Avid eBay Shopper

She may have her own vintage-inspired home line, but that doesn’t mean Rachel Bilson has stopped shopping for darling décor. At the launch of the Derek Lam for eBay collection in New York Tuesday night, Bilson told PEOPLE that she’s always on the hunt for vintage treasures — and uses the online auction site as a tool. “I am an eBay shopper,” she admitted. “But I have no patience, and if you’re waiting for a bid, it’s so nerve-racking, but I think you can find amazing things.” The actress said she’s found a lot of decorative pieces on the site, including light fixtures and a weather vane. “When I say I found it, I actually lost out on it at the last second,” she explained. “But it was one of the better finds.” Bilson, decked out in the Derek Lam for eBay “Boho” halter dress, praised the designer’s mini collection, available on eBay now for $175-$295. “I think it’s so cool that he did a collaboration [with eBay] with clothes,” she said. “It’s such a great idea.” Lam, for his part, said he was thinking of summer when he created the wares. “Women always tell me they love my dresses,” he told PEOPLE. “And I love designing dresses! Everybody needs a great dress in the summer, so that was the inspiration.” Lam, who also admitted to shopping on eBay for “the best deals,” said his greatest online get was a pair of out-of-production Nike sneakers. “Someone said to just put in the registration number and you’ll find it, and I did,” he recalled. “[It was] the last pair I was able to find anywhere in my size.” Tell us: What’s your greatest eBay find?Reporting by Asher Fogle

EXCLUSIVE: All the Details on Rachel McAdams’s Cannes Beauty

Rachel McAdams Makeup Secrets from Cannes

Rachel McAdams has been rocking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival with a newly extra-blonde do and some fab frocks, but what’s really sealed the deal on her flawless look is her perfectly done makeup. Her sister and makeup artist, Kayleen McAdams, spilled the secrets on two of looks exclusively to PEOPLE, starting with her photo call for Midnight in Paris (left), where the actress wore a fun Maxime Simoens Couture white dress. Kayleen kept the face neutral, creating a matte complexion with a duo of pink and rose gold shades on the eyes. “We wanted the lip to be the focus of the look, so we chose Stila Convertible Color in Fuchsia — a fun, bright pink fuchsia lip stain,” said Kayleen. For the film’s premiere (right), where McAdams wore a stunning red lace Marchesa gown, Kayleen said it was all about balancing the makeup with the hair. “The hair was ’40s inspired and was an inspiration for the makeup in that I wanted to go the opposite in style from the hair,” she said. “Rachel’s hair is a gorgeous shade of blonde right now so I chose to do a bronzy sun-kissed surfer-girl glow. This look was all about warm, healthy looking skin and a fresh glow to go against the strong hair and the strong structure of the dress.” To achieve this look, Kayleen used Clé de Peau Cream Foundation, Amazing Concealer and MAC Pressed Powder for a flawless complexion, coupled with a more dramatic eye and natural lips. Prince William’s Cousin, Zara Phillips, Covers ‘Country Life’

Zara Phillips Country Life

Zara Phillips hasn’t always gone with the flow. The royal darling, 13th in line to the throne and a cousin of Princes William and Harry, was once known for her wild side, but is now settling down with fiancé Mike Tindall, an English rugby player she plans to marry July 30. And while domestic bliss may be just months away, the accomplished equestrian is still playing by her own rules. Phillips covers the May 11 issue of Country Life magazine dressed down in a jacket and jeans. But the look was reportedly her choice — and for good reason. The fleece Phillips wears is by Musto; she’s an ambassador for the brand, and last year, launched an equestrian line with the company. And her exposed wrists reveal a stunning Rolex watch; the sports-savvy company is one of her athletic sponsors. (That gorgeous engagement ring is displayed quite prominently, too!) Phillips, a favorite of her grandmother, the Queen, plans to marry Tindall in Edinburgh, Scotland, this summer. We can’t wait to see the wedding gown — and another round of fantastic hats!

24 Hour Trend Alert: Short Denim Dresses

Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon in Denim Dresses

310Pix; Startraks

We’ve seen these stars working intricate designer dresses in recent weeks, but these days, they’re all keeping it cool and casual in denim! Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Stella McCartney proved that the relaxed fabric can be cute, each sporting a different denim dress this week. Witherspoon looked country-chic in a comfy denim Imogene + Willie button down — accessorized with a temporary new shoe — while stepping out for lunch with friends at L.A.’s Brentwood Country Mart. Meanwhile, Lopez made her denim a little dressier, choosing a ruffled one-shoulder frock for American Idol on Wednesday night, embellishing it with big earrings and a perky ponytail. And across the pond in London, designer McCartney proved that simple can be sexy when she went out Tuesday in a 3/4-length-sleeve denim shirtdress complemented by brown sandals and a matching leather bag. We like the stars’ casual take on dresses, but we want to know: would you wear a dress made of denim? –Kim Peiffer
