Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Her Spring Style Picks

Gwyneth Paltrow's Beauty Tips
Norman Scott/StarTraks

Spring has sprung — heck, Memorial Day is about a week away — so needless to say, we’re excited for some fresh new warm-weather wardrobe pieces for spring. Then yesterday, like magic, Gwyneth Paltrow‘s GOOP newsletter landed in our inbox, presenting a whole host of options from Net-a-Porter.com for the balmy months ahead. Paltrow chose three base items — a long Stella McCartney jersey dress ($785), an Etoile Isabel Marant twill jacket and an Etoile Isabel Marant silk chiffon frock — and gave suggestions to dress up each look with items like a Chloe clutch ($1295) or Proenza Schouler satchel ($1595), or keep it casual by adding a Splendid tank ($44), Aubin & Wills cardigan ($150) or other low-key basics. While the looks were stunning — Paltrow even modeled them herself! — there was one drawback: the items the actress picked added up to nearly $13,000! So over on the GOOP Facebook page, Paltrow and her team remade some of their spring outfits using pieces like a long Zara jersey dress ($189), Uniqlo blazer (about $50) and J. Crew Edie bag ($238). That’s more like it! To shop all of Paltrow’s picks, check out GOOP’s Facebook page and Net-a-Porter.com. –Kate Hogan

Miranda Kerr: I’m Most Comfortable in My Knickers

Miranda Kerr’s flawless post-baby body has everyone a little jealous. The Victoria’s Secret Angel, mom to son Flynn, 4 months, with husband Orlando Bloom, bounced right back after giving birth, even hitting the runway in a Paris fashion show. But it didn’t come without a lot of hard work — and some mixed emotions. “I felt a little nervous,” Kerr told PEOPLE recently of her return to the runway. “I hadn’t been in high heels for a while. It was probably a good five months since I’d worn heels, but it was kind of like riding a bicycle.” Such is life for the Aussie model, who’s since been spotted in teeny-weeny bikinis and gorgeous red carpet gowns. “My hips are wider, and my boobs are obviously bigger,” she said. “I feel like I’ve become more of a woman now, and I’m really embracing those curves.” Growing up, Kerr didn’t necessarily embrace all parts of herself — including her hair. She counts perming her hair, in an effort to emulate Julia Roberts, among her biggest beauty disasters. “She had curly, wavy, beautiful hair and I wanted that,” she said. “The perm didn’t really turn out that way. It was a trend in the ’80s that I fell for, I guess.” Calling Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn her icons, the model mom says she’s most comfortable when she’s “just in knickers,” hanging around the house with Bloom and Flynn. “People have come to the house and I’m just in my knickers,” she reveals. “[But] I feel like it’s more appropriate to have knickers on than being completely naked.” Read more about Kerr’s beauty and fashion picks in the May 23 issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now. Jessica Alba’s Stylist Keeps Her ‘Really Cute’ During Pregnancy

Jessica Alba Maternity Style

Many women rethink their fashion choices while pregnant, but not Jessica Alba. Since announcing her second pregnancy in February, Alba’s belly has “popped,” but she remains a fashionista thanks to the assistance of her stylist, Brad Goreski. “We’re still trying to keep it very fashion,” Goreski told PEOPLE at the Rimowa Rodeo Drive Store opening in Beverly Hills Monday. “There aren’t really that many restrictions because she’s such a beautiful woman.” The former Rachel Zoe protégé said he and Alba, already mom to Honor, 2, have recently found success in keeping her look “fresh and young” thanks to designers like Lanvin, Versace and Ralph Lauren. “[We] show people that even though you’re pregnant you can still look really cute,” he shared. One brand that Alba has recently turned to for maternity wear, though, is Pea in a Pod. “We switch to Pea in a Pod at, like, month two or three,” Goreski told reporters. “You need the [belly bands].” So what’s it like dressing someone Goreski describes as the “coolest mom?” “She’s just so much fun to be around,” he shared. “We had a fitting today and just laughed all through it. I look forward to seeing her every time.” –Patrick Gomez

Jennifer Lawrence Embraces Her Feminine Figure

Jennifer Lawrence's Womanly Wish

Jennifer Lawrence endured months of body painting for her upcoming role as a (nude!) blue superhero in X-Men: First Class, and the actress was all about embracing her womanly figure for the film. “I knew that if I was going to be naked in front of the world, I wanted to look like a woman and not a prepubescent 13-year-old boy,” Lawrence (in Marchesa) tells Elle.com. “I’m so sick of people thinking that’s what we’re supposed to look like.” Refreshingly, the Oscar nominee hasn’t let her recent rise to fame change who she really is — even when it comes to prepping for Hollywood’s biggest nights. “Fifteen minutes before [the Academy Awards], the guy doing my hair goes, ‘If you can get a salad, get a salad,’” the Oscar nominee recalls. “I said, ‘I’m getting a Philly cheesesteak.’ I’m sure there’s proof on a hotel bill somewhere.” So is she used to being a star? Time will tell. “When you’re on set, everybody’s like, ‘Oh, do you need water? Here’s 45 bottles!’” she jokes. “It’s really bizarre … I’m still getting used to it. I’m still in wonderland.” –Kim Peiffer

The “10 Crosby Derek Lam” collection, aptly named for his Crosby Street office in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, was created to bring an accessible and affordable approach to fashion, namely sportswear. “After the tough economic times, there definitely is a customer looking for fashion with an accessible reach, but considered in a fresh manner,” Lam told WWD. The collection will hit specialty and department stores on Nov. 1 with a resort 2011/pre-spring 2012 line featuring women’s ready-to-wear styles including dresses, blouses, pants, outerwear and jackets, with prices ranging from $225-$395 for knitwear to $395-$695 for jackets and outerwear. When it comes to the fashion industry, Nicole Richie has her bases covered. The former reality star’s burgeoning fashion empire already includes ready-to-wear, jewelry, eyewear and footwear lines, and the designer plans to launch a line of handbags this fall. “It’s important for me to give each one its own identity and really focus on what I want that specific collection to mean,” she told PEOPLE at Nordstrom Fashion Island in Newport Beach while promoting the arrival of her Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 footwear collections to Nordstrom stores. “My main goal for this particular collection — and for all the footwear that I design — is I want the shoes to look great but be comfortable at the same time,” she said. “No matter how high the heels are within the collection, they’re all very, very easy to walk in, which is something that’s extremely important to me.” The collection features wedges, a favorite of the designer’s, and peep-toe pumps in diversified colors and styles. “I’m a girl, and I love shoes,” she said of her decision to begin designing footwear. “Who doesn’t want to make exactly what you want?” –Jessica Wedemeyer
