Lady Gaga's Fashion Sense: 'There Are No Rules'

She’s rocked the runway in Paris, worn gravity-defying heels and even lived in a custom-made vessel for a day. But Lady Gaga‘s take on fashion isn’t so far out. “I’m mostly inspired by shapes, and using the body to create iconography,” she tells Elton John in the latest issue of V magazine. “Leather culture and high-street punk fashion. I would say perfecto jackets occupy most of my fashion thoughts.” It’s a far cry from the woman who’s been sporting ‘protrusions’ on her shoulders and forehead lately, and often wears her heavy makeup to bed. But Gaga, who has relationships with such designers as Mugler’s Nicola Formichetti and the late Alexander McQueen, says “there are no rules” when it comes to her fashion sense. “We were laughing on the set of the ‘Judas’ video — we had 50 racks of couture,” she explains, “and I wore leather, Motorhead panties made of a vintage T-shirt, custom from young designers who are my friends, my own creations, and archive Christian Lacroix from a museum.” But her style doesn’t always fall into place so easily; when John asks her about her future, Gaga replies, “I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to wear later.” For more on Gaga’s style inspiration — and her new album, Born This Way — check out the summer issue of V magazine, on newsstands now.

lady caca is soo tacky, he /she/ or it, is not even original, A total rip off of Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons, Except Dale had class and talent. Look up videos for MIssing Persons such as “Give” Right now” Words” Destination Unknown”. U will see where this lady caca stole her act.

Yes, there are fashion rules Gaga (I refuse to use the word Lady and Gaga in the same sentence). While Gaga is incredibly talented, her ridiculous outfits (or lack thereof)/shoes/hair colors, have overshadowed her beautiful voice. It’s really too bad.

I have respect for Lady Gaga! She is different, fearless and not ashamed or afraid to be yourself, whatever she chooses in this life she is living stronger then people who judge and are afraid to be themselves. So KUDOS and respect to LADY GAGA!!! Do the damn thing!

Why does she need such gimmicks? She is a *relatively* talented singer… and yes, the outrageous couture has been done before… more than once! Me thinks that she knows that if she weren’t attracting attention with her outlandish get ups that photographs of her without them would be simply homely… I would have more respect for her if she chose to show case her voice, rather than draw attention to her looks (or lack thereof)…

she does outrageous makeup and outfits to cover up the fact that she can’t dance and the fact that she is not pretty. do you see the pic on the mag cover of her in the middle? that is as close to normal as she gets and it ain’t all that pretty. i liked her voice when i could understand what she was singing. she has dramtaically changed from her first hit and i do not think it is for the better. i just want to say that there is only one Madonna and she comes no where CLOSE even though she wants to.

I like the new PHOTOS, interesting to hear! Also, congrats to everyone on the good news, and good luck to them on certain things, sorry about the bad news, etc.

I would agree completely Natalie! There have been a number of songs that have been “redone” by other artists/TV Shows (aka Glee) and when you get right down to it, I prefer those versions over hers for the simple fact that they are not so “out there”. I don’t doubt that she has talent and some of her songs have great messages. But, her extreme “fashion” sense gets in the way…. would love to see her “normal” (whatever that is…) once in a while!
