EXCLUSIVE: Sofia Vergara on Becoming the Newest CoverGirl

Sofia Vergara looks gorgeous no matter where she is: on the red carpet, on Modern Family, on the streets. So it’s only natural that today, she was announced as the newest face of CoverGirl. “It feels amazing,” she tells PEOPLE of the big news. “I’ve always wanted to be a CoverGirl. I always loved seeing the pictures of the campaigns in magazines.” Vergara, who’s addicted to the brand’s LashBlast Volume mascara and Lip Perfection lipstick, says she grew up around cosmetics. “My mother used to do her makeup everyday, and I used to watch her, just fascinated,” she shares. “I’ve always had a very good relationship with makeup; it’s one of my favorite things.” Vergara, who made PEOPLE’s “Most Beautiful” list this year, is also proud to represent Latin women in her new role. “When you grow up, you look up to girls in the magazines, and you never think you’re going to be that pretty, or that well made-up, or that glamorous,” she says. “I love that I have the Latin flavor; Latin girls can relate to me, see what I’m wearing, see my makeup, my hairstyle.” Vergara’s ads will debut in January of 2012; she’ll be representing some new additions to the CoverGirl line. The Modern Family star joins an esteemed roster of current brand spokesmodels, including Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, Dania Ramirez and Taylor Swift.
