Reese Witherspoon’s ‘No Bikini’ Policy

Reese Witherspoon on Leotards
FOX

“I sort of made a conscious effort all my career not to end up in a bathing suit in a movie,” newlywed Reese Witherspoon told reporters Saturday at a Water for Elephants event in Los Angeles. “And here I was in this movie wearing a leotard [for] the majority of it.” But once she got into character as Marlena, a cruel circus trainer’s wife, she didn’t mind showing a little extra skin. “They were beautiful,” she said of the costumes. “It was a different time when women loved their curves and enjoyed being voluptuous.” Witherspoon shared that she trained “a lot” for her role by riding circus elephants and horses. And while she didn’t end up “dirty” like her on-screen love interest, Robert Pattinson, she did experience a change thanks to glam 1930s hair and makeup. “It was really transforming for me,” she shared. “I didn’t even recognize myself.” Water for Elephants hits theaters April 22. –Kim Peiffer, with reporting by Jennifer Garcia

Would You Match Your Shoes to Your Dress Like Eva Longoria?

During a mini press tour of New York City this week, Eva Longoria appeared to work a mini trend: matching her satin heels to her chic little dresses. In town to promote her new cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen, Longoria was totally color-coordinated, but we think she really made it work. Tuesday morning, the Desperate Housewives star popped into ABC Studios for an appearance on Good Morning America wearing a flouncy, v-neck white dress and shiny matching pumps. The day before, we spotted her at CBS’s The Early Show in a pretty pink frock by Victoria Beckham Collection, paired with ballet-slipper pink heels. Later that evening, she showed up for a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman in a form-fitting navy number and deep blue peep-toe shoes. We loved watching Longoria’s little match game, but we want to know what you think. Tell us: Would you match your shoes to your dress?

Uniqlo Springs Nine New Designer Collaborations

Uniqlo Springs 9 New Designer CollaborationsCourtesy Uniqlo

Watch out H&M! Just in time to fill those wardrobe gaps left from spring cleaning, the style-for-a-steal Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo is launching not one but nine designer collaborations with the return of its Designer’s Invitation Project. New York style stars Costello Tagliapietra, Vena Cava and Charlotte Ronson are leading the chic parade with fun and flirty six-piece collections that are warm weather-perfect — and only $30 per piece. Ronson tells PEOPLE she turned to traditional summertime themes like “seaside retreats” for inspiration, seen in her nautical striped dress with lace-up collar. Meanwhile, Costello Tagliapietra’s Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra were tapped to reinterpret the T-shirt and did so using modern silhouettes, like with their one-sleeve tunic, which they say “[feels] dressy and casual at the same time.” Vena Cava’s line also features looks that are flexible … literally. “We wanted to make pieces you could go to yoga in, and then walk around Brooklyn in,” designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock said of their loose, layered tops. The Designer’s Invitation Project, which launched in 2006, will also include collaborations with Double Standard Clothing, Nine, Suzuki Takayuki, Theatre Products, Tiny Dinosaur and Zechia. The Costello Tagliapietra collection hits Uniqlo’s New York City Soho flagship store on April 21, followed by Charlotte Ronson on May 5 and Vena Cava on May 12. With these high-fashion bargains only available through May 21, there’s just one question left: When are you coming to the Big Apple? Tell us: Which designer collaboration are you most excited for?Christie LaRusso

WATCH: Christina Hendricks Rocks Vivienne Westwood Jewelry

Being named the face of Vivienne Westwood jewelry would give any girl a thrill. But for Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks, it was extra special. “When you admire someone for so very long and then you find out they know who you are and that they actually want you to wear their jewelry … it was heartwarming,” the actress told reporters last week at the Vivienne Westwood flagship store opening in Los Angeles. “I was over the moon.” A fan of the iconic designer since “forever,” Hendricks told PEOPLE she appreciates the way Westwood mixes romance and rock in her designs. “I love that she literally dressed the Sex Pistols and has bustles and corsets and things that one would never expect a designer to be able to do all at once,” she gushed. “She pushes things further than other people have.” Hendricks recently modeled pieces from Westwood’s new ‘Get a Life’ Palladium Jewelry Collection; the jewels are available at the designer’s London and L.A. boutiques for $445 to $900. Go behind the scenes at the Vivienne Westwood store opening — and at Hendricks’s sensual photo shoot — in the clip above! Reporting by Jessica Herndon

Reese Witherspoon Gets a Post-Wedding Trim

She worked long, glossy blonde locks at her March 26 wedding to fiancé Jim Toth, but it looks as though Reese Witherspoon made a trip to the hair salon just days after the star-studded affair. Saturday, the actress was spotted at a Water for Elephants press event in Los Angeles, her hair slightly shorter than usual. Then Sunday night, she debuted the new, shoulder-length do while presenting with Robert Pattinson at the Academy of Country Music Awards. It’s a subtle change — the actress hasn’t been known to switch up her hairstyle too often — but we love that she’s lightening up a bit for spring. Tell us: What do you think of Witherspoon’s new length? –Kim Peiffer
