Drew Barrymore’s Stylist: Why We Went Red

Talk about a ravishing redhead! Drew Barrymore recently made a hair hue switch, picking up a warm red color and leaving her ombré locks behind. We love the new look, but wanted to know — why the switch? According to Barrymore’s colorist, Tracey Cunningham, it was just time for a change. “The ombré look really created a great beauty buzz but we wanted to try something new,” Cunningham tells PEOPLE. “Drew likes to keep her look fresh; we like to try new things when the seasons change.” Choosing to use “the perfect spring red shade” — which she describes as soft and warm, with “great vibrancy” — was easy, Cunningham says. “Drew is a color chameleon! Her skin is so pretty that any hair color will complement her eyes.” To make such a change on your own, Cunningham recommends taking the process slowly. “When you book your appointment, be prepared to spend some time in the salon,” she explains. “The color needs to be gradually added back in; your colorist has to make sure they apply the color with perfect technique to even out the look and void the prior ombré look.” To lock in color and shine, Cunningham recommends a glaze, too. But if you’re gunning for a major change of your own, think twice, the stylist says. “Do it when the time is right! Don’t try a radical change two weeks before your wedding or a major event in your life,” she cautions. “Give yourself time to adjust to the change — and embrace it!” –Reporting by Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

Hayden Panettiere: My Three Favorite Looks

Pint-sized Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere seems to be a designer’s dream. The actress can work any look — long, short, couture, casual — and is a style chameleon, coolly changing hairstyles and makeup in the blink of an eye. So can an actress who’s sported so many looks and hit as many red carpets pinpoint her three favorite dresses ever? The answer is yes. In a recent chat with PEOPLE, Panettiere says this chocolate halter, which she wore to the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party in March of 2010, is one of her best. “This Amanda Wakeley dress is so ethereal and feminine and easy to wear,” she says. “I love the Grecian style.” Another obsession? The turquoise and black lace number she sported at the 2010 CMT Awards. “I’m really into jewel tone dresses. This Pucci dress is a fun way to wear bright color, and its tight fit made it modern.” Panettiere rounds out her top three with a white stunner she wore to Elton John’s 2011 post-Oscar bash. “I love this Luca Luca dress,” she says, “because it was inspired by old Hollywood with a contemporary twist, which makes it youthful and elegant.” Tell us: Which of Panettiere’s red carpet looks do you prefer? See Inside Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s Amazing Shoe Closets!

Khloe Kardashian shares her closet obsessionsCourtesy ELLE

Khloé Kardashian is no stranger to opening her life and revealing … pretty much everything. And now, the reality starlet is opening her closet doors, exposing her shoe fetish and organizing obsessions with the world. “I love all of my shoes,” she tells elle.com. And she loves keeping them orderly, too. “It is a must to have them color coordinated, and to be able to see each and every one of them. I know exactly where each one lives and I can tell if one has even been moved!” Kardashian, whose shoe closet is totally enviable, has a system for storing her Christian Louboutins and Jimmy Choos. “It definitely helps to put one shoe facing front, and the other to the back,” she explains. “It saves space, but it is also nice to be able to see the back-side of the shoe. I am an organization freak!” But as it turns out, the shoe queen has actually found her ‘sole’ mate in Lamar Odom, whose closet contains lots of sporty shoes. She explains, “My hubby is such a sneaker king … and I am a stiletto queen! He always wants to see me in sneakers, but I believe I can do anything in heels.” Tell us: Are you jealous of Kardashian’s shoe closet? –Kim Peiffer

Angelina Jolie’s Jewelry Line: “Chic and Contemporary”

Angelina Jolie's Style of Jolie JewelryCourtesy Robert Procop

You’ve seen the serious sparklers, but just what went into the creation of Angelina Jolie‘s new jewelry line, Style of Jolie? “She has been involved, every step of the way,” jeweler Robert Procop tells PEOPLE. “She wanted to create some beautiful art around jewels with the mission of helping children.” Jolie and Procop, who’s styled the actress in the past, started the project in August of 2010, creating storyboards, researching gems and metals and considering various designs. “Angelina has a very classic style. She is very chic and contemporary,” Procop explains. “[The collection] is what she enjoys wearing on the red carpet, but also what she enjoys wearing when she’s at home. It’s also what she enjoys giving as a gift.” In fact, at Christmas, Brad Pitt gifted Jolie with a bracelet similar to the the five-row white quartz tablet bracelet (above) after seeing her design. Another piece the actress particularly loves is the Angelina Jolie exceptional emerald necklace (above), containing 44 green gems totaling 103.48 carats. “It’s probably one of the finest collections of cushion emeralds ever assembled,” Procop says. “The stones are just so bright.” Though the line — which features pieces starting at $4,000 and benefits the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict — is only available to private clients at the moment, Procop hints that later this year, a more accessible retail version will hit the market. But for now, the jewels are hitting the road: after a short stint in Beverly Hills, they’ll move on to a gallery in Monaco for about two weeks. Seems they’re following in the footsteps of their jet-setting creator! Tell us: What do you think of Jolie’s jewelry line? Reporting by Kate Hallett

Audrina Patridge: Seeing My Bongo Billboard Was “Surreal”

Audrina Patridge Bongo BillboardJason LaVeris/FilmMagic

Audrina Patridge has graced the cover of Maxim and performed the tango in front of millions on Dancing with the Stars, but she says seeing a larger-than-life-sized billboard of herself on one of the busiest streets in Los Angeles was a “surreal” experience. “It’s gigantic,” she told PEOPLE Wednesday at Hollywood’s Redbury Hotel while describing her new, super-tall Bongo ad on Sunset Boulevard. “It’s so big! When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, my god, that’s way up close and personal.’ I’m so appreciative of it. I never in a thousand years thought I’d ever be up there. It’s insane, but it’s amazing.” The star of the new VH1 series Audrina is featured wearing a sexy black two-piece in the ad. “It was really about promoting the brand’s spring and summer lines,” Patridge, 25, said during a Bongo-sponsored party celebrating her show. “Bongo has bathing suits now, which they’ve never had in the past. I think they really wanted to promote that, and since I’m always in a bikini, it just kind of made sense. It was an amazing shoot.” Patridge is a longtime fan of the line, sold exclusively at Kmart and Sears. “I love Bongo,” she says. “My mom used to wear it in the ’80s. It’s been around forever.” More importantly, the reality starlet appreciates how the brand has evolved over time. “It’s not just about the clothing anymore,” she explains. “They have all kinds of apparel, as well as accessories. The clothes are actually cute. I don’t like to just slap my name on something. I like to be involved. I need to like the product, otherwise I’m not going to represent it. It’s great, because I actually get to go to San Francisco and I actually get to give them my feedback.” –Dahvi Shira
