Blake Lively‘s red hair may have been the talk of the TIME 100 Gala Tuesday night, but another star hit the carpet with a new hue, too: a noticeably blonder Meghan McCain. “Blonder is always better, for me,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m from Arizona, which is like being from Texas. So I like big hair and blonde hair — and lots of makeup all the time.” McCain, wearing an Alexander McQueen dress, said her stylist Josh Rupley — who was also her date — was the mastermind behind her color change. “He’s been doing my hair since the campaign,” she explained, adding that he understands her primping preferences. “People always want to put in low-lights to make [my hair] look more natural. I am always, like, addicted to bleach.” For makeup, the blogger turned to Karen Dupiche, who works for Sherri Shepherd, too. “I met her at The View, and I just loved the makeup that she did,” McCain shared. Next up for the 26-year-old is a weekend trip to the NRA Convention in Pittsburgh with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.  So, is blonder better for an event like that? “I don’t think it matters,” answered McCain. “I just think you’ve got to like guns.” –Jeffrey Slonim

I wonder if the Republicans have embarassed her enough yet. She seems intelligent and informed. I hope she is the “New Age” Republican. Get rid of the old ones and they might have a chance of staying politics.

If more republicans were like Ms. McCain — thoughtful, measured, common sensical — the party would have a lot more respect not just in the USA but in the world.

I’m not a Retardican or anyone at all conversant with the high fashion scene, but give Meg a break. She has a right to her own opinions, politics and identity. Also, from where I sit, she LOOKS great. You want to castigate somebody, pick on someone deserving–like Sarah Palin.

“I’m from Arizona, which is like being from Texas” what?! “I’m from South Carolina, which is like Florida but you have to go through Georgia to get there” brainless!

Lets see her exchange this for fatigs the next time her dad John McCain wants to send your sons and daughters to fight in some other counries troubles. Let him know what it is like to worry about their kids diying and see how quick he is to try and send anyother Americans children over there. F@#k him and his spoiled family!!!

she’s always making fun of people smarter than her, so bitter.

I don’t know if I’d even offer MMcCain with the title of RINO. It would be borderline if I did. The year her father won the nomination she changed her registration from democrat to repulican as a “birthday gift” to her dad. Can you stand it!?? What an arrogant little twit. I use the term “little” gingerly. It’s wise that she spends so much time on hair and make-up, cause if there was more than a head shot you’d understand that her body is a train wreck!

I’m a Texan and a staunch conservative and she gives me the creeps!
