LeAnn Rimes Donates Shoes

Peggy Joyce was in the right place at the right time. The stay-at-home Ohio mom happened to be hanging out on Twitter Wednesday when LeAnn Rimes announced she’d just done some spring cleaning. “3 SOLID hours of closet organization,” the country star Tweeted, sharing photos of her newly arranged clothing and accessories. “Everyone has a vice….mine are shoes and handbags :)” So Joyce chimed in. “anything u want to donate to me? From OH and lost job and have a 16 month old. Bad year..I will pay for shipping. Thanks!! XO” After a few Tweets back and forth about logistics, Rimes announced that she’d pulled some items for the struggling mom. “I have a few pair of flip flops for the summer and tennis shoes in your size….hope it helps.” Joyce, who asked Khloé Kardashian for a similar donation, was obviously touched. “When I get items I will pay it forward somehow to someone in need,” she Tweeted. –Kate Hogan

I’m not saying it’s not a nice thing to do, but…. this isn’t that worthy of praise. I do stuff like that frequently because it is the right thing to do. So, yes, yay for LeAnn for not being selfish/wasteful, but I hope that soon this will be a common enough phenomenon that no one is praised for it.

Wendy on

I will only see LeAnn as a cheater and a liar.

Jennifer on

A little harsh ladies. I think it is a great reminder for everyone to make sure that we are helping others when we can. Her private life is really none of our business. No need to post mean comments.

CJ on

A few pairs of USED flip flops and tennis shoes? C’mon LeAnne. If you knew her shoe size, couldn’t you have at least sent her NEW flip flops? Maybe even splurged at Payless? Sorry, I’m not finding anything to woot about here.

Stephanie on

Even if it does become common, people should still be praised for good deeds. There’s nothing wrong with praising the good. Trying to knock down actually sounds a little selfish to me.

It’s newsworthy because it’s nice and how fun will be it for this gal to say “see these shoes? guess who gave them to me?” And what is up with those who will never let her live down what she did. I hate the idea of forever damning someone for one bad decision – yes, it was a biggie, but still, forever?

kelly ann on

flip flops and tennis shoes? yawn. it’s not like she donated any glam heels or shoes she won to a televised event or anything.

diane Lemmon on

Nashville doesn’t forgive easily. Vince Gill and Amy Grant kind of lost popularity after they dumped their respective spouses. I think LeAnne will too. I mean, she was caught on tape with Eddie, and still lied about dating him

CJ on

Oh please. Out of her probably hundreds of pairs of shoes, she sends this poor woman a pair of USED flip flops and USED sweaty tennis shoes. It’s only newsworthy because it’s so shameful.

Erin on

i think its worth of praise for sure. People are just out for themselves now a day. I had a friend who was selling a few baby items on craigslist when she got a sob email from a pregnant mother who needed baby things desperately and had no money. My friend donated these things to this lady and 2 days later not only did this poor pregnant girl relist these items for sale on the SAME craigslist, but she also had the balls to steal the pics that my friend used to advertise them! Good for Leann rimes!

kaytee on

Hmm. Its great. BUT. This lady has asked for things from two different famous women? and she is so poor that she has twitter?

Steffy on

Really guys, a little harsh – where I don’t believe when we do something kind it should be for any kind of praise – but I am sure that Ms. Rimes had know intention of bringing this to the forefront – media, I am sure is responsible for bringing this to the surface as I am sure many media outlets watch over her twitter account. and as for the recipient of the shoes – whatever kind they were – kudos to her for being assertive!

sally on

Maybe people ate my comment, since it hasn’t shown up yet, but I think some of you missed my original point. I said nothing bad about LeAnn in my post at all. I think it’s great that she is giving her things to people who need them. I just don’t think it is that big a deal–more people should make a habit of this kind of behavior. If you want to praise LeAnn for being so generous, make sure you follow suit.

Yet somehow I am “selfish” for “trying to take her down?” OK.

Some of you are hypersensitive or downright rabid about LeAnn.

Angela on

This woman sounds so tacky hitting up celebs for donations. For the money she offered to spend on shipping, she could have gone to Goodwill or Salvation Army and bought herself some stuff. She’ll probably end up hawking the donations on e-Bay.

Steffy on

Twitter is free. I would hate to think she would try and resell, but that could be the case, who knows? I guess I just don’t think that way, because that is not the kind of person I am. And then again – perhaps she will pay it forward and do something for someone else who is in need!
I guess only time will tell.

shazam on

I totally agree with Wendy but I would add homewrecker to that…also couldn’t she afford to buy her some NEW clothes/shoes instead of sending her used stinky ones….no praise from me.

Country Music Insider on

diane,

Vince and Amy weren’t shunned for dumping their spouses. In fact, Amy had dumped her drug-addicted husband a good bit before she and Vince got together and Vince’s WIFE initiated their divorce proceedings, with him doing everything he could to stop them. What they can’t forgive is people who won’t own up to their mistakes. Vince and Amy still try to pass off their daughter, who was a rather large newborn, as being quite premature. People lost respect for the fact that they didn’t just stand up and admit that Amy was pregnant when they got married and lied about it instead.

It’s the same thing with LeAnn. She has never said anything indicating that she is sorry for wrecking two families, and in fact seems to keep rubbing it in people’s faces. It’s the attitude, not the deed. But she really is not a very nice person, she treated her best friend from high school horribly.

@Wendy-Get over it!

Kelly on

I find it tacky that the lady is hitting up celebrities for their used items. If she has the money to offer her to pay for the shipping cost, surly she can afford to run out to Payless Shoe Source, or Walmart, and buy a pair of cheap Flip Flops and Tennis Shoes. She was probably hoping to score some expensive designer shoes.

I’m all for paying it forward to someone who really is destitute, but loath people who try to work the system for their own personal gain.

comma12 on

Whose this women think she is going around asking celebs for things? I would never do that. It just seems kinda rude to me. I understand they have alot of money and what not, but I would never be so bold to just ask for stuff from people like that.

Synclaire on

I hope the receiver is truly in need since she asked Kim Kardashian also. I would hate to think she has an ulterior motive when so many are truly in need.

How about Peggy asks Leann to sign them, then she can sell them on ebay and use the money for food and baby stuff.

amanda on

I am sure she has only worn them a few times since celebraties have so much free stuff given to them. I think its great that she did this for someone in need. I hope the lady asking is being honest. No one will ever know the whole story of her previous marriage as no one was in that house with them two sides to every story so let it go her ex has moved on and so has she.

Jamie on

Leann isn’t the one who wrote this story and made it a ‘newsworthy’ item. It’s not like she sent out a press release about it. She responded to a message via Twitter and helped someone out. Good grief, folks. People.com made it a story and you read it. End of story.

Bree Garrison on

I think the asking for is more shameful than the giving under compulstion. Bree

this reminds me of (moron) nascar driver carl edwards. he gives away his trophy after winning a race, but like her.. cant part with his millions.

Good for Leann for her generosity.
As for the haters; I doubt any of us knows the fine details in another’s life. I have no idea what Leann might or might not have done previously.
Its a shame that a story of generosity was met with so much hate and anger. This being Palm Sunday people might want to reflect on the following story:

They said, “Teacher, this woman has committed adultery. She was caught doing it.”

“The law of Moses tells us that the people who do that should be killed with stones. What do you say?”

They said this to see what Jesus would do, because they wanted to find something wrong with him. Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger.

They kept on asking him. He stood up and said to them, “The one among you who has never done any wrong thing may throw the first stone at her.”

Sick Twitter on

Oh my…you need to read that woman’s twitter dating back to beginning of March. She tweets constantly asking alllllllllllllllllll celebs to send her clothes and accessories ( Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Kim K, Tori, and many more) and begging for VIP music tickets and VIP suite tickets for baseball games. What a shame.
She is a star begger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How disturbing.

Sick Twitter on

The lady repeats the same thing to many men and women celebs. First says unemployed lost job then says stay at home mom?????????????? Hmmmmm…
I counted over 30 celebs where she is begging for free stuff and expensive music concert tickets and expensive suites at games. And she boasts about her new expensive phone she got????????

Courtney on

Forget LeAnn, the woman begging is pathetic. Look at her twitter and all she does is try to con stuff off celebs. LeAnn probably wanted to get her off her back! Jeez… No shame..

ST on

So LeAnn sends old, used shoes to an out of work mom. How does that help the woman feed her 16 month old child? Just asking.

Denise on

Are you kidding, used shoes? Yuck. LeAnn should be embarassed!

Alexis Victoria Krasco on

Just think if more celeb’s cared like she or would donate a portion of their income to the poor here in this great country we call home,I’m willing to bet that there’d be much less poor here, and they’ed be benifiting by rewarding those who pay to see them,by lessing the burden on the welfare system..

Denise on

And, yuck….. Used shoe donation? Really? My husband doesn’t think it was nice, he thinks LeAnna took a shot back at her for being a cheap, low class beggar…….

m0m0nthrun on

All you haters and naysayers should really get a life. Its news because it was on Twitter for all the world to see. Its not like she sent the press information on her good deed. Why don’t you all get a life and let her live hers. We all will have to face our maker when our time comes, HE and ONLY He will be judge of all of our actions. All I have to say, is I’m glad that the woman will be getting some shoes and stuff during hr time of need. Now LET IT GO!

Sarah on

Come on people… How many times do you have a need for glam heels and what not. If a person is asking for help in the way of shoes, I am sure the practicality of the chosen shoes was appreciated. In addition, do you even know what the size situation is? Or maybe the shoes were practically brand new. Or maybe you people need to stop bringing others down. The tweeter about the logistics. I doubt this woman who asked for stuff had a problem with what she got.

Susan on

With all the money she’s reportedly spending on her upcoming wedding, I would be more impressed if she had bought the woman some new shoes or clothes, or supplies for the woman’s son. Giving away used shoes seems kind of cheap when you have that kind of money. And used sneakers and flip flops, on top of that? Those are among the most germ-and-bacteria filled shoes ever. LeAnn, stop being a cheapskate. Get the woman some NEW shoes, if you really want good publicity.

janet on

I wouldnt beg online for anything, especially some smelly old used tennis shoes. Flip flops are cheap, she could buy a pair or two with the shipping cost she is willing to pay.
How cheesy of you to beg for items from anyone/everyone.. they call that MOOCHing I believe. If you are really destitute you shouldnt be twitting , you should be online looking for a job, not begging for celebrity items.

gk on

Maybe the items LeeAnn is donating to her are brand new. We don’t know if she ever used them. I’m sure she has several clothes/shoes/etc. that she has never worn. And yes, I agree that if she has money to pay for shipping and internet service, then she has money to buy a pair of shoes.

Anna on

It is a blessing to help other people…..but really Leanne…this is the best you can do with all your millions? This is how you help a mom really in need…used shoes? And media attention is given to this donation? I agree with CJ, it is shameful.

Dawn on

Let it go people, you can’t break up a good solid marriage anyways so maybe it was meant to be. I think the donation was nice of her, used or not thats for the woman from Ohio to decide if she wants them, not us!

Donna on

Yes, what she did was wrong but why can’t people get over it already… People hate her but then praise Angelina Jolie.. Didn’t she do the same too, and admitted to doing it on some magazine?.. I don’t get it, does Leann have to adopt 20 kids from 20 different countries to be liked??

Alisa on

Pathetic & demeaning.

anon on

Dear god, that lady is a celebrity stalker. And she can afford a new phone?

Joyce on

why is it when someone does something nice for someone, people have such mean things to say, why do they have to put the person down and condemn them for what they have done wrong, I guess they have never stumbled or made mistakes, we all have made mistakes in our life, Life is short we all could use a how sweet, or great ,it is the thought that counts at least she did offer most people wouldn’t do that.
