Bella’s Wedding Dress Imagined in ‘The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide’

Twilight Bella Swan's Wedding DressCourtesy EW

Bella’s getting married! Twilight‘s human-turned-vampire Bella Swan walks down the aisle in Breaking Dawn, and in Stephanie Meyer’s new book, The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, we get a sneak peek at what the bride-to-be might look like on her wedding day. EW.com has two exclusive images from the tome, on shelves April 12, which offers fans new material like character profiles, genealogical charts, maps and more to supplement the four volumes in the savory series. The guide features images by several illustrators, but this particular drawing was done by Young Kim, who also did sketches for the first Twilight graphic novel. Breaking Dawn Part 1 is due out in theaters on Nov. 18, and we recently spotted the movie’s stars filming wedding scenes on location in Canada. Perhaps Kristen Stewart will find herself sporting a “beautiful” dress similar to this ethereal creation? Or will she go the high-fashion route? To see another exclusive sketch from the Twilight guide, go to EW.com. Tell us: What do you think of the wedding dress sketch?

I think this dress is too much for Bella, but if Edwards sisters got to pick the dress, I can see this as an option! It is beautiful!

@ Jenn. I don’t think that’s “the dress” that they’re using in the movie. I think these are illustrations from multiple designers. Just like with Kate Middleton’s wedding gown, they probably asked for ideas from several different sources.

But I do agree with you. This is too much veil for Bella. The dress seems simple enough for her..but the veil is overdoing it.

everyone knows that this is NOT real right? it’s a book and the purpose is to imagine it yourself……

Bella is a simple girl who is in love. The last thing she wants to worry about is a dress. She should wear something simple but beautiful. In Edwards eyes she’s beautiful no matter what she wears. But I do think she lets Alice take the lead on this one too! This dress is beautiful, but I don’t see it being something that even Alice would pick for Bella. It’s not extravagent enough. Can’t wait to see what they come up with for the movie though.

i love that dress i would wear it on my wedding day. :)

The dress was never Bella’s ideal it was for Edward and it was said to be old fashioned for him….Actually I think Alice picked the dress out for her. This to me doesn’t look old fasioned but who am I too say. I will just enjoy watching it all come together in November……

Did it say she looked like she was from a Jane Austen book?

- sarah beth on

Per the book, Alice had the dress made by a new designer who specialized in “this sort of thing”. The lace was vintage. Alice stated there was a waiting list which prompted Bella to ask how long ago she ordered the dress. Alice never told her. Per @Leslie_roses, the dress was never Bella’s idea. The dress was designed with Edward in mind to reflect the year 1918.

@sarah_beth – Yes. When Bella first saw the dress she thought of Anne of Green Gables. Bella’s mother tells her she looks like she stepped out of a Jane Austen book.

- Dani on

It’s a beautiful dress, but not true to the description in the book. It was “Anne of Green Gables”, Jane Austen kind of old-fashioned. And as the others said, the dress was never meant to be Bella’s style. It was a tribute to Edward’s time and values.
